The weather was beautiful over this past weekend so the 2 brown dawgs went out for a little walk in the forest.
First they practiced heeling off lead.
Off Lead Heeling
But there were no birds to be found. So the 2 brown dawgs went to the river to check it out.
The River Was Beautiful
Sure enough, the 2 brown dawgs scared two mallards, a male and a female, off the river. They waited for them to land again, but they just flew around quacking as ducks are known to do in the Spring.
Then the 2 brown dawgs decided to try again to find the grouse.
Maybe They Are Over Here?
Where are Those Darn Birds?
Then there was chasing because that is what the 2 brown dawgs like to do best!
Run Faster Storm
Finally the 2 brown dawgs stopped running and chasing for a bit.
A few days early, but I couldn’t miss Thunder’s 4th birthday. I can’t believe it has been 4 years since our boy went from this….

It’s been a great four years! Happy Birthday Thunder!
This past weekend was the Detroit Kennel Club Dog show at Cobo Hall in Detroit. The brown dawgs were well represented. On Sunday there were 54 Chesapeake Bay Retrievers entered. Thunder, Thunder’s mom, and two of Thunder and Tule’s pups were entered. Quite a family affair.
Thunder was the only one entered in his class (Hunting Dog). Despite his playful movement around the ring, the Judge gave him a pink first place ribbon and he won a nice hunting vest for his handler. He then advanced to the Best of Breed Competition where he moved much better.

Thunder’s mom took Best Veteran in the Sweepstakes so she got a huge ribbon and a great print for a prize. I saw that some formal pictures were being taken so I hurried up an snapped a picture. Not the greatest photo, but a nice commemoration of the win.

Thunder and Tule’s pup Radar placed in both Puppy Sweepstakes and in the Bred by Exhibitor Class. Good job Radar.
Bred by Exhibitor Dogs (Radar is the first dog)
Another of Thunder and Tule’s pups, Smokey, placed in her class in Puppy Sweeps. Smokey was also awarded Reserve Winner’s Bitch from the Bred By Exhibitor Class. The Reserve Winner is the runner-up to the winner. Nice job for 15 month old Smokey.
There were so many great Chessies, that I made a slide show of some of them.
It was a great day and we had fun visiting with all of the other dogs and meetings everyone who stopped by to say “Hi”.
Congratulations to all of the winners!
