This past weekend was the Detroit Kennel Club Dog show at Cobo Hall in Detroit.  The brown dawgs were well represented.  On Sunday there were 54 Chesapeake Bay Retrievers entered.  Thunder, Thunder’s mom, and two of Thunder and Tule’s pups were entered.  Quite a family affair.

Thunder was the only one entered in his class (Hunting Dog).  Despite his playful movement around the ring, the Judge gave him a pink first place ribbon and he won a nice hunting vest for his handler.  He then advanced to the Best of Breed Competition where he moved much better.

Thunder’s mom took Best Veteran in the Sweepstakes so she got a huge ribbon and a great print for a prize.  I saw that some formal pictures were being taken so I hurried up an snapped a picture.  Not the greatest photo, but a nice commemoration of the win.

Thunder and Tule’s pup Radar placed in both Puppy Sweepstakes and in the Bred by Exhibitor Class.  Good job Radar.

Another of Thunder and Tule’s pups, Smokey, placed in her class in Puppy Sweeps.  Smokey was also awarded Reserve Winner’s Bitch from the Bred By Exhibitor Class.  The Reserve Winner is the runner-up to the winner.  Nice job for 15 month old Smokey.

There were so many great Chessies, that I made a slide show of some of them.

It was a great day and we had fun visiting with all of the other dogs and meetings everyone who stopped by to say “Hi”.

Congratulations to all of the winners!
