Hunting for Team Duckbusters was pretty tough this weekend.  The winds were calm and they did not get into the ducks.  They had a great time, but unfortunately bagged no ducks for the MiCBRC tournament which meant they had to give up the trophy.  But it didn’t go far and it didn’t leave Fish Point because John won it with 4 ducks.  Congrats to John!  Last year he hunted with Team Duckbusters, but this year he brought a pal so he split off and took his dog Muddy.

Muddy

Muddy is one of the 12 pups from the Thunder and Tule litter.  Thunder was more than happy to let the trophy pass to his daughter.  Muddy is a lucky pup and gets to hunt a lot.  She has almost 50 retrieves so far this season, (maybe more by now).

The tournament was Saturday, but Thunder also went out hunting Friday evening and Sunday morning.  They got a good draw on Friday and it was the best day for hunting.  They managed to get 2 teal.

The teal were wrapped up and put away for puppies!

Before going to the draw on Friday there was an opportunity to walk around Fish Point and snap a few photos.

This boat belongs to Chris and it is the one they take if they hunt in the Bay.

Saturday for the tournament, it was a beautiful day with calm winds.  Not the best for hunting and no birds ventured by.

Sunday they tried their luck again.  The morning was foggy.  They could only hunt a few hours and they waited and waited for the fog to lift, and it did, just when it was time to leave.  No ducks, no shots.

All and all it was a great weekend!  They even enjoyed a gumbo made with all those ducks they shot a couple of weeks ago.  Thanks to Cindy and Gary for the hospitality and to Chris for the use of his boat.  Thanks also to Jim and Cindy for taking these pictures!

Team Duckbusters will get that trophy back next year!

  1. Looks like a great weekend. Look at those sunrise pictures from Saturday. Fish Point looks like a neat place too!

  2. Great photos and I learned something about duck hunting as well. Other types of game are hunted in Northern Arizona, but no ducks here – at least for hunting.

    1. I don’t think Arizona is on a flyway. We get a lot because we get birds from both the Atlantic and Mississippi flyways. They go right through Fish Point and there is a Reserve there as well.

  3. All the pictures are great…very pretty scenery and sunrise. The second picture is one fit for framing and hanging…very nice. Sorry about having to give up the trophy. Hugs and nose kisses

    1. That’s the problem, you either get beautiful pictures or the weather is crappy and there are birds so you are too busy calling/shooting to take pictures. 🙂

    1. It is a good photo. That one was taken by Cindy I think. It will probably go on next year’s calendar, (I make a couple every year).

  4. Gosh I love these photos — beautiful! Sorry to hear about the trophy but glad you all enjoyed the weekend!

  5. Your photos are stunning. I have been looking at the last few days and they are all just so beautiful!

Too bad they didn’t get any ducks on Sunday, but I’m sure they will recapture the trophy next year!
