Yesterday’s post was about the pups first time with a duck.  Many of you asked whether we had picked a pup yet.  They really are a great litter of pups.  It has been very hard to choose just one.  Very hard.  Can’t we bring them all home with us?

Who could resist those faces?

Our trainer suggested we pick a pup that is birdy.  From the time we heard of the possibility of this breeding that has been the number one thing on our wish list.

OK they are all birdy.  Well at least we know it will be a boy!  That narrows it down some.  But seriously, it was very tough.  We are going to co-own this dog with Cindy which means the dog may someday be considered for breeding, so we have to be concerned with such things as bite, structure and coat.  But all of their bites seem fine and they are all very nice pups.  Do we really have to pick just one?  After much hemming and hawing, we have made a choice, (well at least our top three :)).  When I say we made a choice, we actually relied on Cindy’s advice.  She has been breeding Chessies for a very long time and picked Thunder for us, which was the perfect choice!  If all goes as planned, we will bring our pup home on Friday.

When we pick up our pup, it will be the last time we see the pups all together.  Last Sunday was the last time for taking pictures of all of them. 🙁  I hope you don’t mind that I wanted to put up just a few more pictures today.

I also hope you will all come back this weekend to see which one came home with us, (and we have also decided on his name :)).  Most of these pups are going to hunting homes and they will have great lives and many retrieves.  Cindy and Gary did a wonderful job with this litter.  We are so grateful that they allowed us to come over and play with the pups, (and do none of the work :)).

Between puppy proofing the house, training on Saturday, and trying to get personal business done before puppy arrives, I am a bit behind in my blog reading.  I hope you will bear with me as I try to catch up.  I also still have a couple of awards to share and hope to get those done this week or maybe next week.  An extra day or two this week would help!

  5. All of those puppies are just so gorgeous! Good luck picking just one! LOL! I love all these pictures of the pups, especially the third one from the bottom. It looks like that puppy is smiling! I can’t imagine how anxious you are for Friday. Heck, I’m anxious for Friday now! Can’t wait to see your pick and hear his name! You know that first one in the pen is saying “pick meeeee!” Definitely busy times ahead for you (or should I say busier). Good luck!

  6. I am on pins and needles because I am so very excited for you! I’ve been thinking of puppy names you might consider and can’t wait to hear the name (and the puppy) you’ve chosen.

I would want to bring them all home too!

  7. I can’t wait to see which one you chose, and I don’t know how you picked just one! They are all so precious and I have loved seeing the pictures. They make me want another puppy, too, but I think we’re going to finish having kids first…

  9. It will be very hard to choose just one puppy out of all of those adorable pups, and I’m very excited to see which one you choose and why. Then we will have the pleasure (courtesy of your blog), of seeing him grow up and progress in his training!
    You must be so excited!

  12. I’d say “keep all of them” but then, that’s probably one big reason why we decided not to breed our dogs.

  13. I don’t know how you would ever decide. They are SO CUTE!

  19. They are sooo cute, we love the photos of the pups with the birds! I always want to bring home more than one pup 🙂 How exciting that you bring new puppy home Friday!!!! The best of luck to you all– sounds like you are going to have a great time with your new addition!

  20. So today is the BIG DAY! 🙂 I can’t believe how time flies. All those little boys (and girls) are adorable, and I’m certain you are beside yourself with excitement and nerves today. Can’t wait to meet the little guy!

  21. “When I say we made a choice, we actually relied on Cindy’s advice. ” – I think that’s an excellent plan. Breeders are pretty good at knowing their lines and their future dogs. All the best with your new puppy.

  22. Oh man, they are so stinkin’ cute! I can’t wait to read how the new pup is settling in (given today as I comment it’s Friday), and am happy for the prospect of lots of cute puppy photos.
