Last Saturday was another windy and cold day. The dogs trained on frozen ducks and ran a couple of different triples. Thunder did well on the first one; however, when it was reset and changed a bit he had a some trouble with it the second time around. That is typical Thunder. Storm had trouble with it the first time through but did great the second time around. Typical Storm. 🙂 After the triples, Thunder ran a blind straight up the field. The challenge of this blind was all of the scent from the ducks in the field which kept pulling him off line. His handler stopped him and redirected him and he did a good job on this.

We are supposed to have another cold weekend with only a bit of wind. Should be nice for training.

Do your guys ever have any problems with frozen birds? I’ve heard that some dogs have a lot of trouble with them, but have never used them myself.
Many of the dogs were a bit hesitant to pick up the frozen birds, but after the first couple of retrieves, they did fine.

Awesome pictures! I am hoping that the weather warms up for you soon! Not to warm that the dogs are uncomfortable, but warm enough for you not to be chilled to the bone! I hear snow may be in the forecast for tomorrow….burrrrr!!!!
I think Freighter is very focused – I’m sure you’re learning a lot buddy and you’ll be as good as the big Dogs in no time!!

I can’t believe how good Thunder and Storm are! They look like they are really paying attention and really want to please. Boy, if that was ME, I’d grab those birds and run away and shake them, then pull all the feathers out and then play “keep-a-way” with Mom! It would be SO much fun. I bet Freighter would like to play too…

Freighter already looks like such a big boy. I wish they stayed puppyish small for a bit longer. They change so fast!

looks like a great day of training! I have to say – although I know the dogs are specifically trained for it, it always really impresses me how they can find ANYTHING in that huge field! 😉
