I picked Storm up from the vet about 6pm last night.  She was still pretty dopey and out of it.  The vet tech said she could have her normal diet (we soften her hard food), but not until this morning.  She also warned me that Storm may not want to eat today.

Last night when Storm heard the food bowls being readied for Thunder and Freighter, she jumped up and came a running.  Sorry no food until morning.  🙁  This morning we gave her a smaller portion which she ate eagerly.  Storm is not one to turn down a meal.  I will probably feed her a couple of more times today.  I also want to make sure that she is drinking, so I did the old chicken broth in the water trick.  🙂

She was sent home with some gigantic antibiotic capsules.  I have to cram three down her throat twice a day give her three of them twice a day for a week.  Lucky me.  I put them in peanut butter this morning.  We will see how long before she is wise to that trick.  I looked at her gum where the growth was removed and it looks good.  It will be a week to 10 days for the pathology to come back.

I also had the vet clean any of her teeth that she felt needed it, but she only did a few.  So few that there was no charge.  🙂  They shaved her leg for the IV so she has a nice bald patch.

Today I will let her snooze.  The boys will do some training tomorrow.  I am not sure how long Storm will be off training.  I guess we will see how quickly she heals.

Storm

Have a nice weekend!

  1. Thanks for the update on Storm. I’m glad to know that she is home and has an appetite! I’m sure that was a relief for you. Hopefully all goes well with her test and her recovery is quick. 🙂

  2. Oh I hope she is feeling better real soon! And that she gets some sleep today! Finn loves those pill pockets, if you can get them. Makes giving her mess a l

  3. Poor sweet Storm, we are sending so many well wishes her way! Do you have any idea when to expect the results of the biopsy?

She reminds me of Delilah, the day that dog turns down food, will be one of the saddest days of my life. 🙁

Looks like you will have some down time this weekend, please enjoy it!

  4. Oddly enough, my dog, Mylo, will eat his allergy medicine right out of my hand! He’s easy to give pills to! Hope the pup recovers quickly and easily!

  5. Oh no, poor Storm!! I didn’t know about the growth – I’m super glad she’s feeling well enough to eat – sending lots of get well hugs buddy,

    Your pal Snoopy 🙂

  6. It makes me so sad when they’re dopey from being vetted. Hopefully when the pathology comes back, it’s good news!

  7. I’m happy that Storm is recovering well from her trip to the Vet! My Mom has found a sneaky way to get us to take our medicine. Not only does she wrap the pills in a small piece of bread (she cuts/tears a slice into 4 pieces) with peanut butter on it, but she feeds ALL of the dogs peanut butter bread AT THE SAME TIME! That way, whoever is getting the medicine is far too worried about missing out on their share, to look for hidden nasties in their “treat”.

  8. So glad the procedure went smooth and she’s home where she belongs. All of our fingers and paws are crossed over here for a good pathology report. I know the waiting can be agonizing, but hang in there!!

  9. Very happy that Storm”s surgery went well and she is back home and that she was ready to eat even with a sore mouth. She sounds like she is doing well and I hope that continues. I am bad at giving pills and no matter where I hide it they find it. Lexie is pretty good at letting you put them in her throat since she wants to get it over and get the treat. Mica is not so willing and John has to do hers. Hope the biopsy comes back fine and Storm will be back to normal having fun and learning.

  10. So glad Storm was interested in food so quickly. That must have been good to see even if you had to disappoint her.

I hope you get good news from the vet soon.

And only needing a few teeth cleaned? That’s wonderful. Keep up the good work.

  11. I’m glad that Storm did well with the surgery. We give our Labs medicine in mini peanut butter sandwiches – we just make sure the peanut butter side is down so it doesn’t stick to the roof of their mouth!

  12. Glad to hear Storm is doing alright! It is no fun when the pups are sick 🙁 We will keep her in our thoughts and we hope she continues to improve. Have you tried Pill Pockets for the meds? Scarlett used to love them but now she won’t eat them so we use the cat Pill Pockets instead 🙂

  13. Hey Storm, Jet here.

Oh gosh, so sorry you are under the weather. Glad you are home with your family and have the urge to eat. We will cross our paws/fingers for the best possible outcome. You guys (Mom’s NJ term of endearment) saved JJ, so we will help you any way we can.

Sending Nurse Jetty kisses and JJ hugs. xoxoxoxoxoxxo

  14. Oh we need an update on Storm. I am a few days late in reading this and My Vickie and I are worried.

  15. Oh gosh, poor Storm! I’m just catching up now, but I sure do hope she’s feeling much better today.

  16. Glad to hear Storm recovered well from her surgery. I hope you get her pathology results soon and that they confirm it is a benign lump.
