When we visited with Freighter on Saturday, we tried to stack him for a picture.  Mischief must have taken over because he was not cooperative.

Monday Mischief

  1. Ah yes, joys of stacking…. we went old school with Luna as she liked to just move her feet a smidge after we placed them… so out came the big bean cans since I couldn’t afford “happy feet” If she tried to move they fell over, made her keep her feet in place better. She will stack for others better than me too, as I don’t work with her much on it anymore and she knows it. I have wanted to get some stacked shots of her lately though so maybe we will brush up some. Bait always helps a puppy out too.

    1. We haven’t done much “show” stuff with him but since his breeder was there, I asked if we could try a picture…lol. She was nice to humor me. Of course we had no bait and considering they were throwing bumpers, he didn’t do too badly. He was just too excited to stay in place and hold still for a picture. 🙂

    1. It was so bright out, I am not sure the pictures catch his color correctly. The first two were with the sun behind him and the rest the sun was behind the camera. He is a very dark brown to look at him.

  2. Ha-ha! Freighter has much better things to do than stand still! He looks great, he looks like he has gained some muscle!

  3. At least it wasn’t the show ring! I used to be heavily involved in a breed that assumed the National Specialty Puppy Class was where you lead-break a puppy.

  4. ha ha! Why oh why do you humans take all these pictures … I sort of understand, because then we all get to see how good looking these doggies are!

  5. Oh, he is a cutie!

I mean, of course that had to be frustrating to try to get done. But the cute makes up for it, right?

How much longer is he at sleepaway-training-camp?

  6. Hi Y’all!

Just stoppin’ by to say “hi”. Thanks for visitin’!

Don’t worry Freighter…they might not appreciate all your eagerness now, but they will! Take an old boy’s word for it.

    Y’all come back now,
    Hawk aka BrownDog

  7. OMG look at that boy! He’s all legs 😛 I can’t believe how much he has grown and his coat color is just gorgeous! I am willing to bet you have the most handsome bunch of chessies retrieving bumpers ^_^ His stack will fill out as he will!

  8. I’m new to this blog hopping stuff, but your baby is GORGEOUS. As a natural redhead, maybe I’m a little biased …

  9. We thinks sweet Freighter likes action much more than he likes being still. Those are still great pictures and he is looking very handsome! Hugs and nose kisses

  10. LOL! Love the facial expressions. Who wants to do this beauty pageant stuff when there are bumpers to be retrieved?

  11. Hey Freighter,

It seems like you had way more fun things to do than pose for photos, right?

Great to see you though buddy 🙂

    Your pal Snoopy 🙂

  12. Freighter reminds me of my human sister. She won’t stand still either.

    Your pal, Pip

  13. I still can’t get my dogs to stand! LOL Sampson is such a lazy dog, that he usually sits and prefers to be lying down. 🙂

  14. Freighter you are hilarious, it does not look like you were cooperating at all:-) I remember how much fun it was to stack puppies, they saw no point!!

  15. The only reason I know what “stacking” means is because my friend says it when she gets her dogs in position for photos. I am still not quite sure what the mechanics of it are though…..like what she is actually doing that is different than just posing.

    1. It is sort of posing. When you stack a dog, you are helping them to place their feet in a correct position so as to best show off their structure. If you scroll down my sidebar, under “Breeders” there is a picture of Thunder and Storm “stacked”. Some dogs are very good at stacking themselves, (called free stacking). Thunder was so it made it easier on his handler. Puppies usually don’t like to hold still and be stacked so you work on training it because in the ring you have about 30 seconds to get it right. If they are not stacked correctly, the judge can’t see them at their best and just moves on because usually they have many dogs to judge on any given day.
