Due to the lack of rain this summer many of the ponds around here are in poor condition.  These two pictures show the difference in the same pond from last year to this year.  By chance one of the water marks in Sunday’s Junior test landed in almost the same spot as one of the mark’s in a Senior test last year, (of course the dogs started from different places).

  1. Wow! Are you getting any of the rain from Isaac? We have had a moderate amount of rain, it comes in spurts. We’re getting it now.

  2. Wow, I know we have had a lack of rain, and to see it put in perspective like this really makes ya think! I bet we’re gonna have one wet fall!

  3. such a difference! it’s dry here too… though the past few days, we’ve been getting enough rain to more than make up for what we weren’t getting all summer… hopefully you’ll get some of that too

  4. Great comparison shot!! Thinking you need a bit of rain there buddy or you won’t be doing much swimming…

    Have fun,

    Your pal Snoopy 🙂

  5. My first thought: that makes the big difference between a wet dog and a muddy dog! Unfortunate! Hopefully next year will bring more rain.

  6. Wow – what a big difference. It looks more like a wallow now, when you compare the two.

  7. Wow that is a really big difference, we’ve had a dry creek most of the summer but its a much smaller area. The pond level shows a much larger difference.

  8. I wish we had some cool ponds like that around here for our pups to play in. Yeah that second picture isn’t looking so good. I’ll start doing my rain dance!

  9. Holy cow, looks like the ponds around here. I think it is remarkable that you have a picture dang near exact as the one last year minus the water. You have a good memory of which test is which and where you keep your photos. This was a great post!

  10. It’s getting that time of year where you really have to beware of that blue-green algae that’s so deadly to dogs. With the drought, I’m wondering if it’ll be worse this year.
