Since our training session was cancelled, Storm had an opportunity to get out and do something that she loves…grouse hunt.  Unfortunately the grouse are a bit harder to find this year.  They don’t seem to be in the area where we can usually count on finding them.  This may be because over the DNR replaced a bridge and temporarily pushed them to a different area.  Storm went out two days and had one flush.  A shot was not available, so no retrieve.  Still Storm had fun and worked hard.  She is a good girl.

With the last-minute change in plans, we forgot the pocket camera.  These are some pictures of her working from last season and from a couple of weekends ago.

  1. Bet Storm didn’t mind to much about the lack of Grouse (and I’m sure the Grouse didn’t mind either 🙂 ) I recon she was just happy to be out and running around.

  2. I am sure Storm just love being out. when MOM use to hunt she said it didn’t matter to her or her dog Pete if the birds could be found. Just being out together was enough.

  3. So glad she had the opportunity to get out there! I bet it did a lot to help her feel better after that false pregnancy. There will be other opportunities for her to hunt, yes? I’m not really sure how long that hunting season goes on for.

  4. That sounds like pure heaven for the dog, and fun for the human too. And who knows, maybe the grouse had a good laugh too 🙂

  5. Well that’s kinda sad, not being able to retrieve, but glad Storm was able to work.

  6. Wish we could come grouse hunt with you, we have always wanted to get into some of them. I need to get my hunting license yet this year so i can go putz around with Luna, maybe we can find some woodcock at least. Glad you all had a chance to get out, hopefully you will have better luck next time. One of our friends got his first geese limit up in PA a weekend or two ago, needless to say his young golden was a happy camper.

    1. That is cool. Every time my hubby has been out this season, the hunting has been slow. Timing is everything and he has not seemed to hit it.

  7. Even though Storm didn’t get a retrieve, it still sounds like she really enjoyed just getting out there and working. what a good girl! 🙂

  8. Since she has been in to see if she was pregnant, and was nesting; I’m sure she was really happy to get outside. Hunting and running, even if she didn’t get a grouse was tiring and fun. Got her mind busy on something else.

  9. Nice photos. Sorry about the lack of grouse, we had a very good year for them.
