This is the Follow-up Friday Blog hop.  Thank you to Heart Like A Dog for hosting the blog hop that:

Lets you wrap up your week and leads you right into the weekend.

This week’s blog hop is co-hosted by Terrier Torrent.

Freighter

Since we weren’t sure about the driving conditions yesterday morning, we decided that the easiest thing would be for my hubby to take Freighter with him to work for a few hours and then go from there to drop him at the vet.  Turns out that driving was fine, but Freighter got a ton of good socialization time.  He really has a very sweet temperament and everyone at the office loved visiting with him.

Freighter’s surgery went very well.  He seemed a lot more alert than Storm was after her surgery.  He even got a little dinner when he came home.  He has a pretty purple bandage that I will take off today.  He is on an antibiotic for a week and has a few stitches, but otherwise he can return to normal activity.  He needs to go back to have the stitches removed in about 10 days.  The orthopedic vet was very accommodating and shaved as little fur as possible.  He said that the incision is small and hopefully Freighter won’t bother with it, but if so I have the cone ready.  🙂  In case you are keeping track, Freighter’s weight yesterday was 72 pounds at 13 months.  I don’t think he will grow too much taller and will probably be right in standard for both weight and height.

Snow

Thunder and Storm got a little time to play in the snow yesterday morning.  They made the most of it.

Thunder buried his head in the snow.

Storm took her new Kong Wubba out and tried to bury it.

Camera Choices

The camera I finally decided on is the Canon EOS 60D.  It is a bit fancier than I wanted, but I think it will be fast enough to take the pictures that I want.  It has to be faster than the camera I have now that takes pictures at .7 frames per second.  The new one is supposed to take pictures at 5.3 frames per second in burst mode.

I was able to play with it a bit in the store and it seemed comparatively easy to use.  Don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of settings to figure out, but I think with time I can get it to do what I want.  I got a nice deal with the lens I wanted, but I had to order it online since it wasn’t in the store anymore.  Now I am tracking my package like a kid tracking Santa!

  1. Well you are going to love your new camera!! I love my Canon but I only have the Tii. It is fast and I got some cool pics of Grace on it. We are learning to take it off auto mode and use it. It can be a tough learning curve but we are educated people right???!
Glad Freighter is doing well, hopefully no cone of shame. I see froma earlier post that you are going to Novi. I have opted not to go. only shows around home until after “our” wedding.
Thunder is funny burying his head!!! Ginger just rolls and makes snow chessies. The other run and run and hop. Looks like you got ALOT more snow than us.
Gauge kept taking out the new ball. He got the squeeker out in record time and now it’s just a ball. The young ones destroyed a kong cone on the first day. So they oly have the extreme black Kong and nylabones left. Goofy puppies.
Miss you guys and can’t wait to go to training after all this holiday stuff is done. We have dinner at 1 tomorrow….. See ya soon. Happy New Year!!

    1. We will miss you at the show. It might be good for some laughs. 🙂 I am not sure how many shows we will be doing this year, but we wanted to at least get Freighter a bit of experience.

I am sure I will be overwhelmed with my new camera. I have a Canon point and shoot and I like it except that it is so slow. I like to take action pictures of the dogs and it can’t keep up. I hope I can make this new one work.

  2. Oh, a Canon! Those are simpler to use than Nikons, or so I have been told. I hope it works out well for you!

Poor Freighter. He looks all kinds of sad!

    1. I went back and forth between the two. When I tried this one in the store it felt more intuitive to me. Of course that might turn out to be wrong…lol. I know I will have to study up just like you are doing. 🙂

    1. The camera is fancier than I probably need, but I am upgrading to gain speed and none of the other cameras promise that. I would have much rather purchased a simpler camera. Of course if I can’t figure out how to use the thing, then it won’t matter how fast it is…lol.

  3. Glad to hear Freighter is doing so well, you’ve got a great dog there. 🙂 I love Storm trying to bury that Kong, sometimes I really wish they understood logic, so you could say, why don’t you just set it down and throw the snow over it? LOL

The camera looks fun! I could use a new camera but there are too many other things I am currently saving for right now. 🙁 Blog Paws for one.

Well have a great weekend and spoil that pup just a little. 😉

    1. Don’t tell, I let Freighter up on the couch a bit. He is just such a snuggler. When we train and go to hunt tests, taking pictures is my hobby. Hopefully it won’t turn into frustration. 😉

  4. Sending Get Well wishes to Freighter! We’d love to try out that snow stuff!! All you dogs all over Blogville with white snooters!! We want to try that!! Our publicist has a canon and finds it pretty user-friendly. We like that she can capture us “in action!!”

  5. Don’t know much about cameras…I’m just a snapshot taker who gets lucky sometimes (when you shoot 100 pictures one of them is bound to turn out) Those are two VERY happy dogs in the snow…Glad that Freighter had an easy time of it and is doing so well. Happy FUF!

    1. Haha that is how I take pictures too. But I really want to get some of my dog’s water entries and my point and shoot always misses it because it is so slow. 🙂

  6. Have fun with the new camera. BOL the dogs look like they were having a terrific time in the snow. Have a fabulous fun filled Friday.
    Best wishes Molly

  7. Glad to hear Freighter’s surgery went well! Love the snow pictures-I’ve had a lot of fun watching the boys in the snow over the last few days!
Congrats on your new camera!!! I’m jealous!

  8. So glad the surgery went well! The other two look like they are having a blast! Lucky you with a new camera!!!!

  9. I am a bit behind on blogs and didn’t know about Freighter’s surgery. I am glad it went well and hope his recovery goes smoothly!

    1. He just needed a bit of dewclaw removed. It isn’t a big deal, but we were worried about it catching and ripping when he is running through cover.

  10. Hope Freighter is okay! That snow looks awesome and fun to play in! We got a little but not enough to do anything with. Oh well, maybe later!

  11. Hey Storm, Hey Thunder, Hey Freighter, Jet here. Hi Miss Linda.

Thunder, that is the best pic with your head in the snow! We do not have that white stuff, so, I can’t relate exactly! Storm, good job burying the wubba… if at first you don’t succeed…

Freighter, we were so sorry to read of your surgery. We’re sending Jetty kisses and JJ hugs for the speediest recovery. 🙂

Happy and Healthy New Year to all of you.

Can’t wait to see pics from the new camera!

  12. Hi Y’all!

BOL! I’m usually trying to “unbury” my toys from the snow! It seems they disappear a lot easier if you don’t mess the snow up first! I dig to “find” them after they are lost…try tossing it into undisturbed snow, Storm.

    Y’all come by now,
    Hawk aka BrownDog

  13. I am very glad to hear Freighter’s surgery was a success. I hope he recovers easily and can get back out there to enjoy the snow with the others.

That is quite the camera! I am looking forward to seeing some of the results!

  14. Hi Guys

I hope Freighter is doing well, have a fun New Year!!

    Wags to all,

    Your pal Snoopy 🙂

  15. I love the snow on Thunder’s nose looks like a little mustache! Hope Freighter is doing very well now, happy New Year!!!! -Kirby and ma
