Welcome to the This ‘N That Thursday blog hop!

It’s a little of this and a little of that and everything in between…

Puppy Pictures

I shared these on Facebook, but in case you missed them, here they are again.

Many thanks to Dorene for this new supply of puppy pictures.  The pups are 6 weeks old, but these pictures are of them at 4 and 5 weeks old.

Eye For An Eye

We had Freighter back for exactly 3 days before I had to whisk him off to the vet.  He must have poked his left eye, or it was a bug bite, or he rubbed it on something in all that cover because it got bloodshot, slightly puffy with a bit of goop coming out of it.  It was fine when he went to bed on Monday night, but we noticed it looked a bit droopy Tuesday morning and as time wore on it seemed to be getting worse.   It wasn’t terrible but definitely something going on.

I checked it to see if I could see an obvious injury or something in it.  I couldn’t.  I figured this was a job for the vet and the nice vet techs who could help hold him.  🙂   The vet did a stain test and saw no obvious abrasions to his cornea and prescribed medication for infection.  I was sent home with drops to be put in 3 times a day for a week.  It is not easy to get drops in Freighter’s eye.  It is a job for about 5 people, but the two of us are getting it done.

Hopefully the drops will clear it up because if not, they will probably have to use anesthesia to get a good look.

How Cool Is This!

A few weeks ago Dawn from American Dog Blog asked me if she could use one of my photographs of Thunder to draw a pet portrait.  Of course I was thrilled.  Check out her fabulous sketch of Thunder.  I think she captured his joy of retrieving!  I cannot wait to see the one in color, although I really like the current sketch.

Hitting The Road

With all three dogs at home and warmer temperatures, it is time to break out the dog trailer for the season.  We purchased this trailer last year as a safe way to transport our dogs.  It has a fan ventilation system to help keep them cool  when we are traveling.  We can put them in the back of the truck, but it gets warm in there even with the windows vented, (we can’t leave the windows flipped up for travel so there are just sliding windows).  Parked or moving, it stays much cooler in the trailer.

  1. Oh, sweet Storm what a busy, busy mama you are with all those little cuties. Sweet Freighter sure hope there is nothing serious going on with your eye and it heals up quickly. Hugs and nose kisses

  2. That’s a nice trailer for the awesome dogs! Also, Chessie puppies always remind me of Freighter when he was a pup!

  3. Hi Y’all,

My Human said to tell y’all that she wishes we could have one of Storm’s pups…but alas, even if they weren’t all spoken for, there is only room for ME (thank Heaven!) in MY rig! BOL!

Second, Freighter, just grow up and hold still! Several times a day I have to have my face washed, eyes washed and the goop removed.

    Y’all come by now,
    Hawk aka BrownDog

  4. Those puppies are so adorable as are all puppies. It would be hard not to want them all! Hope Freighter’s eye clears up!

  5. Great puppy photos, I sure miss having puppies around 🙁

The sketch of Thunder is wonderful, she sure is an amazing artist.

Poor Freighter, hope that eye heals up well.

  6. Those puppies are so darn cute! I could spend countless hours playing with them! Poor little Freighter-crossing fingers and paws for his eye! Nice trailer too! Have a happy today!

  7. thanks so much for posting the puppy photos. I don’t “live” on Facebook and when I am there, I follow so many people that unless I manually go to someone’s page to check, or it is rolling through my newsfeed I miss things, so these adorable pics are greatly appreciated!

  8. The puppies are so so so cute!!! You can tell they’re going to be trouble with that jail break, though. 🙂

I hope Freighter’s eye gets better soon. I can only imagine how difficult it is to put medicine in it. 🙁

  9. Great TNT, the puppy pictures are great! Freighter is handsome with his bad eye (I couldn’t really even see a problem, must be because he is so handsome and I was staring at his good looks). Hopefully he is sitting still and letting you get the meds in easier. The sketch of Thunder is great and how great to be chosen to have one of your pictures drawn. Have a great weekend.

    1. I took that picture of Freighter before the eye issue. When I saw him on Saturday, I could not believe how grown up he looked.

His eye seemed much better this morning. He wasn’t squinting and it was less blood shot. Made it a bit easier to get those darn drops in there. 2 more applications today…oh joy!

  10. Thunder’s portrait looks great. 🙂 And I love the puppies!!!! And the trailer. Nice. 🙂

  11. Oh, Storm and her puppies are adorable!!! I just love the photos. And I saw the drawing yesterday when I was catching up on my blog reading! It’s great and I cannot wait to see it in color!
    Have a great day!

  12. Oh those puppies are so yummy, I just wish I could hold them and breath their little puppy breath. 🙂 And the photo of Storm touching noses, is just precious.

Poor Freighter and poor you, I remember what it is like trying to get drops or ointment in my guys eyes/ears. They don’t make it easy. 🙂

  13. That is one great rig you’ve got…Must make travel a lot easier…I have a serious case of puppy envy going on right now…Thunder’s sketch is lovely and in color will be something to treasure…Hope Freighter’s eye clears up soon

  14. Oh, Storm’s babies are sooooo cute! And I hope Freighter’s eye will get all better soon; Mom knows those eye drops can be tricky business. Almost as tricky as pilling a kitty! 🙂

  15. I like the front assembly on the pup in the middle in “Exploring.”

I’m glad there were no corneal abrasions!

  16. I missed the Storm puppy photos so thanks for sharing them. That’s one cool dog-transport trailer too. My friend used to go to weight pull competitions and I always admired all of the trailers there. I could fit like 1,000 Dachshunds in there! Ha, ha.

  17. Oh, the puppy photos!!!! 😀 Do hope Freighter’s eye is responding to the drops and you don’t have to go any further. LOVE that trailer. Awesome!

  18. Hope Freighter’s eye clears up from the meds. And hope you have fun traveling around in your trailer. I forgot if Freight has been in there before 🙂

  19. Glad Freighter’s doing well, they’re particularly fussy about having eyes and ears worked on.
