Storm In Her Crate
Storm

It is important for pets to be safe while traveling in vehicles.  To keep our dogs safe and secure, they ride in crates.

It’s pet safety month at BlogPaws and they are hosting a hop on pet safety.  So today we are joining both the Wordless Wednesday and Pet Safety blog hops.

Thanks to BlogPaws!

  1. Way to go, BrownDawgs! My next vehicle is going to be an SUV so that Maya and Pierson can ride in crates. They currently wear dog car harnesses in the back seat.

  2. Alfie doesn’t like being confined in a small space and the car doesn’t fit a crate so we have a ‘doggy seatbelt’ (a car harness) on the back seat. Though it is on the shortest settings he has dropped down into the foot-well by accident and we have had to pull over to rescue him. So yep! Crates are the best 🙂

  3. Ever since Toby had his panic attack last year, we’ve discovered the benefits of crating while in the car. 🙂

  4. Dog car safety is so important and we are so tired of seeing dogs on driver’s laps, dogs hanging out windows or the very worst, riding in the open back of a pick up down the highway. Please crate or seat belt your dog in the car, not only for the safety of the dog but for the safety of others! It should be a law like human seat belt laws!

  5. Very important, too many dogs get injured in car accidents because they’re not properly restrained.

  6. Do you have a big car? I can imagine three dogs in three crates must take up a lot of room. 🙂

  7. Very important message for dog parents. Thank you for sharing.

  8. So glad you are able to get their crates in your vehicle. That does seem like a safe way to travel.

  9. I’m glad your humans make sure you’re all safe in the car – I heard of a large mastiff being flung out of of a car window in an accident a few weeks ago and hours later someone found him in a ditch – the people in the car were badly hurt and no-one knew there had been a dog in the car! Amazingly he survived and is now recovering….

When I’m in the car I always wear my harness which is attached to the seatbelt and I like to lie in the footwell behind the front seats….

    Safe travels guys,

    Your pal Snoopy 🙂

  10. We don’t crate at home, but I do think crates would be the safest way for them to travel in the car. Why oh why did I get rid of my old SUV?? In the car I drive now, the back seat is somewhat slanted, like the back seats of many cars. I would hate for their crates to sit at a slant. Would maybe have to put towels under the back end to keep them level. But I won’t lie… they would go CRAZY in there. They love looking out the windows, and the “nose art” on the windows proves that. For now, we just do our best with harnesses and such.

  12. We crate our guys when traveling, which not only keeps them safe but calms them down as well.
