Welcome to the This ‘N That Thursday blog hop!

It’s a little of this and a little of that and everything in between…

How Do We Prepare The Dogs For Hunting Season?

In case you missed this on Facebook last week, I wanted to let you know that we were interviewed by SlimDoggy about how we prepare our hunting dogs for the season.  They also interviewed our fellow blogger JoAnn of Sand Spring Chesapeakes and Anne and Terry, who own Taj, a champion Weimaraner.  You might enjoy reading our various answers to their questions.    If you haven’t already stopped over, check out their post:  Fitness Tips for Hunting Dogs.  Thanks so much to SlimDoggy for including us!

Frustrated Blogger

Sometimes blogging can be very frustrating.

Last month I finally had a chunk of time to sit down and catch up reading and commenting on all of your blogs and then *poof* no internet.  Turns out I had to replace our wireless router which kicked the bucket.  I managed to get the new router up and running pretty quickly but of course my time was again limited.

A week or two later I found another chunk of time to catch up.  My plan was to eat dinner and then fire up the laptop.  I set dinner on the table and *poof* no electricity.  It was a bright sunny day.  Did I forget to pay the bill?  😆  No just a plain old power failure.  The power was off for about 3 hours.  Needless to say, I did not catch up that evening either.  I was able to back up some photos off my computer so at least I got something accomplished.

Then last Friday we were sent home prematurely from the hunt test due to the dismal performance of two brown dawgs.  Bright side…time to catch up on the blog.  Unfortunately Mother Nature had a different idea and our power went on and off all evening due to severe storms in the area.  Not only did we have to turn off the a/c, (on one of the hottest days), but the internet was on and off as well.  I shouldn’t complain because some people were out of power for a couple of days.  Still, it was a bit frustrating.

Oh well enough complaining…

I Have Some New Pictures Of Storm’s Puppies

Storm’s breeder has a facebook page and they have been posting pictures of Storm’s puppies.  I have been given permission to share the pictures here.

These are some of the latest:

  1. BOL thwarted at every attempt to catch up. Nevermind. Love the puppies. My how they have grown. Have a tremendous Thursday.
    Best wishes Molly

  2. Your power situation sounds like my Gramma’s! If someone sneezes she loses power! She lives in a really nice neighborhood, so it is quite odd. Love those puppies, so darn cute…but then again all puppies are adorable!

  3. Are those brown labs? OMG! I thought my son had a brown lab with the longest tail in the world, but I see one of yours rivals that big gorgeous tail – very good for thumping people and for showing extreme joy!

    1. The are Chesapeake Bay Retrievers. They have a wavy coat most of the year. Right now not so much because they are out of coat. 🙂

  4. Ugh….it’s difficult enough to find time to catch up, and then when you do you’re thwarted at every attempt….I understand that frustration! I thought sure we would lose power during that heat wave, but luckily we never did.
Thanks for the puppy photos! I had already looked back to find them, but I also loved these as they are a little older, especially the swimming ones. Then I had to go look at their FB page also….can’t seem to get enough! 🙂

  5. The puppy pictures were great, so nice when you can get pictures through out the pups life so you know how they turned out. They are looking good. Hopefully your bad luck with weather and interfering with your blogging will get back to normal soon and you won’t be frustrated anymore. I can relate to internet problems, in the boonies here it seems the one day I wake up and want to post my blog the internet is funky and it takes me a hour and half to get it done through out all the disconnects and pages not available. Makes me crazy.

  6. I want a computer that is powered off a bicycle. No power failures, unless I’m too lazy to pedal!

Great pics, as always. Are you still liking your camera? I adore mine. It’s like an extension of my arm.

    1. I LOVE my camera. I need to buy some accessories (like a hood) and I am saving for a larger zoom lens.

      1. I have a list of “toys” I want for my camera, too! So much to learn, but I’m having so much fun doing it.

How do you back your photos up? Just on a hard drive? I do that currently, but I’m afraid something will happen to the computer. Considering an external hard drive.

        1. If I take some really important pictures, I keep the card. I have access to Sam’s and cards are reasonable there. Also, I bought an external hard drive and move them onto that. My new camera takes huge pictures so I had to make room on the computer. Most of my pics are for the blog so once I post the good ones, should I loose them, it isn’t a huge deal. 🙂

I have several external hard drives from over the years. The last one I bought was 500 GB and was inexpensive. They make 1TB now, but I did not want that big. 🙂

          1. HI Y’all,

I use the 1TB external drive for back up. In addition I maintain a site on SmugMug to store all my photos. That site also doubles as a website where I can refer friends or relatives by giving them specific links.

  7. The puppy pictures are adorable. Reminds me of Ash when she was a puppy! Hope all of your internet problems are fixed. I know how frustrating it is when the internet isn’t working and there are things you want to do! Have a great day:)

  8. Puppies, puppies, puppies! I love that this is the first post that came up in my reader and it was full of smoochable puppies!

Sorry to hear about your blogging troubles, we’ve had our share of them due to the weather we’ve been having here. I hope things turn around for you!

  9. I totally understand your frustration. I’m super far behind on reading too. Ah someday we’ll catch up. Sucks about the power though, I don’t know what’s worse, losing it when it’s hot or losing it when it’s cold!

I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU DID THIS TO ME!! Gah…puppy pictures. Now I’m going to stalk their facebook page. 🙂 She had a beautiful litter of puppies. Makes me miss the little guys.

    Have a great day!!

  10. Thanks for sharing the puppy photos…There’s never enough of those and they are all so adorable…Had to laugh about the poswer outages (sorry)…It happens here so often I gave up counting…And when it’s not the power it’s just monsoon rains that have been cancelling all our outdoor fun…It’s a strange Summer everywhere

  11. *SQUEEEEE* PUPPY CUTENESS!!!

Sometimes the universe conspires against us, doesn’t it? Your power and internet outages are almost funny. Almost. How supremely frustrating.

  12. Hi Y’all!

Can’t believe a 14 month old pup is retrieving in Lake Michigan! Wow!

    Y’all come by now,
    Hawk aka BrownDog

  13. We had the internet go down too. This technology can be a pain sometimes. Love the puppies! So glad you got caught up.

  14. Wow the electricity and internet thing sounds like it’s been giving you a pretty hard time. I feel the same way sometimes, but it’s usually not because of the power. Mostly, I just have to get up every 5 minutes with my kids around. So now I’ve just decided that I should just stick to writing posts late at night when they are asleep.

  15. The puppies are so cute! They have gotten big! Blogging is frustrating sometimes. On days like today I fall so far behind, commenting at night and feeling like I am missing so much of what happened during the day. Hope your internet is all sorted out!

  16. The puppies are to die for!!! Blogging does have its frustrations and there’s nothing worse than when you’re computer lets you down. Thanks for keeping up with your posts regardless 🙂

  17. Oh my goodness, the puppies are so ADORABLE!!!!!!! 🙂 Especially love that photo of Dixie – what beautiful eyes! That little girl is going to break a few hearts! 😉

  18. They are SO ADORABLE! They all have homes, I assume? (not that I’m in the market for a Chessie…I don’t think the fiancè would be on board with that choice)

We’ve had to replace more than one wireless router over the years. It’s frustrating every time, reaching that diagnostic step. Too much tech in this house sometimes!

  19. Terrific looking puppies! As for your blogging difficulties, I guess you can blame it on the long arm of Murphy’s Law.
