I have been complaining talking about the deep snow this winter.  Detroit had 39.1 inches of snow in January which is an all time record.  I am not sure of the exact snow total at our cabin which is much farther north than Detroit, but we have been getting dumped on since before Thanksgiving.

Don’t believe me.  Here are a few pictures:

The temperatures are back down below freezing and we have a wind chill warning through this morning.  This is what Storm thinks about the weather.

Storm
Nuts!

Sure, snow is fun.  But the brown dawgs are ready to get back out in the field to train.  Unfortunately we have to wait for the snow to melt!

Finally, a shout-out of “good luck” to one of our fellow bloggers who is showing at the Westminster dog show next week.  Kathryn from DogMammas will be showing her Brittany, Biddy on Tuesday, February 11th.  You can read all about their preparations and schedule here.  The link to the Westminster show is here.  They usually post video of the breed judging on the site so you can watch online.  Looks like the Chessies also show on Tuesday.  Best of luck to all showing!

Have a nice weekend!

  1. We had a storm that dumped about 10 inches on Wednesday. Hubby snow blew a path and a small potty area for the dogs. This morning Delilah went out and ventured into the deep snow and it was amazing watching her figure out to walk in her own footsteps to get back. 🙂

I’m thinking we be done with winter right about now. 🙂

    Have a great weekend!

  2. Actually as of our last snow I believe Detroit went over the 39 something listed above and yep in Farmington Hills we have the same. Poor Dakota, the snow is TALLER than he is!

  3. OMG, I love these snowy pictures! WOW, now that is a lot of snow! I think you should go sit down at the picnic table and have someone take a photo of you! Now, that would be funny! Get ready for some more snow, as they said yet another snowy blast is coming in for the weekend. Grrr. Dogs love it too, but I am so tired of shoveling it.

  4. The snow looks awesome. We just love bounding through it and making trails to our favorite spots in the yard! We will be rooting for the PBGV in the Hound Group and hope that in a couple years the GBGV will be full AKC and make a showing. The snow will melt soon enough and everyone will be complaining about the heat or the rain, so we like to just bundle up and enjoy it while it lasts.

  5. OMD 39 inches of snow is a lot indeed. We think everyone over the pond except Sibes have had enough of the white stuff already. Let us hope it all starts thawing out soon. Have a fabulous Friday.
    Best wishes Molly

  6. I am with you on the complaining about the snow! It’s definitely getting old – along with the temperature fluctuations… the only thing worse than bitter cold and deep snow is moderate cold and wet, slushy snow melting all over the place and soaking wet dogs every time they step outside for two seconds!

I’m excited to watch Westminster, there are eight Icies entered this year and all of them are lovely, though my good friend’s dog is currently number one for 2014 and she is really hoping he wins breed so she can go on TV lol! The best part is she is an owner handler, gotta love that!

  7. “Making the most of the snow” in that photo?!? I think not. It looks like some Brown Dawgs are having a BLAST in the snow. I sure hope things start to thaw soon. I am sure you are all a bit stir crazy not being able to get out in the fields.
    Happy Friday,
    Oz

  8. Wow, and I thought we got a lot of snow. Looks like you beat me by about 6 inches. Maya and Pierson sure are enjoying it, but only for a few minutes at a time. Have fun, you three brown dawgs! 🙂

  9. I can’t believe how much snow you have! We just got some fresh powder this week, about 8-10 inches and we’ve been having lots of fun playing fetch out there. I just wish it would get a little bit warmer, so we can spend a little more time out there without having to bundle up quite so much.

  10. I’m with Storm, all this snow and freezing weather is NUTS! Oh good luck to your blogging friend to go to Westminster is a hugh accomplishment! Way to Go! Have a great weekend.

    1. I think we may know some Chessies too. One of the dog’s Gary bred is entered. I will have to check out the entries when they are up.

  11. Great photo of the three of them, I love it. As someone who lives where it never snows, it looks like a movie. I can imagine the practicalities are a lot less romantic!

    1. We normally get a lot of snow up at our cabin. It is in a snow belt, but this year it seems like more than normal. 🙂

  12. Lots and lots of snow! You guys are buried in it! I love it, but I can understand why you’d be anxious for it to melt so you can get back to your training.
I use to live in the mountains of Northern Utah and we had some crazy winters there. They were extra long and one year we got six feet of snow, it was crazy. I’ll post pictures of it sometime.

Love that last photo by the way, hahaha! 🙂

  13. Wow! That is a lot of snow! We haven’t gotten much at all but it has been really cold. I think I’m ready for summer!

  14. That’s a lot of snow! We got a bunch, but not nearly that much (probably only a foot, which is strange to call “not much”, but there we have it).
