20140302-Storm 1

It’s so cold that snow sticks to brown dawgs.

It’s so cold that the Great Lakes are almost iced over.

It’s so cold that the brown dawgs have to keep moving to stay warm.

It’s so cold that the water line between our well and our cabin is frozen.

It’s so cold that toys turn into popsicles.

For now we are still in the deep freeze, but this weekend it is supposed to get into the 40’s!ย  Plus we will be “Springing” the clocks ahead one hour which means that will get an extra hour of daylight in the evenings, (and lose it in the mornings).

Finally something to get excited about!

  1. We can let you know the warmth is headed your way. We have 20’s which feel like 80’s and 40’s for next week. There is spring at the end of the tunnel ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. OMD we feel so bad for you all and it chills us just looking at the pix. We are heading for dry mild sunny days so we send you some of ours. Hope the great thaw starts soon. Have a tremendous Thursday.
    Best wishes Molly

  3. LOL you are right, what are the odds we would both use the same random word in our post?

We are getting 40 degrees too, for the next 5 days!! (After today of course) But I’m so looking forward to some warmer temps.

  4. Wow, you have gotten alot of snow lately. Makes me cold just looking at it. I’m not sure how my dogs would handle it since they have never seen snow or temps under 25 (and that’s rare). We are hoping you get some spring weather soon although it looks like the dogs will miss their winter wonderland playing.
    Great pictures of snow play!

  5. Keep warm! We feel for you in these temps, as we are in the frigid temps too with you! Each day we know we are one day closer to better weather! Yeah!

I wanted to reach out to my fellow bloggers and ask for their assistance! I am participating in a fundraiser called Pledge For Pets and we are helping raise donations for the Animal Protective League. If you can help us and make a donation, here is the link: https://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/nikitaland/2014-doggy-dollars-kitty-kash We are not asking everyone to empty their wallets, but even a $5 donation can help make the difference in an animals life, and it helps them find their forever home! If you can help, we would appreciate it greatly! Hugs from our two rescued dogs!

  6. I feel you on the cold! (I’m pretty sure we’re close enough to be experiencing basically the same weather). I am SO ready for the “warm” this weekend. The dogs are too, well, except for Bauer, who thinks this below freezing weather is just FABULOUS and spends most of his time rolling around in the snow and napping outside. Weirdo lifestock guardian dogs.

  7. No no no! No springing ahead! No lost hour of sleep! But here’s hoping that spring brings you warmth soon!

  8. We are so happy to hear that you’ll be in the 40s this weekend. That’s practically going to feel like Spring Break bikini weather compared to what you’ve been through this winter. Enjoy!

  9. I sure hope your pipes don’t burst from being frozen! That would make one helluva mess!

Glad the dogs are enjoying the cold at least!! Here in South Carolina’s upstate it’s bone-chilling dampness that makes me feel like a walking ice cube. Even with warm sox and shoes my feet are still cold. Time for my LL BEAN slippers! But first I have to take Callie and Shadow outside for a potty break. Hope they’re quick about it!!

  10. You take the best photos! We are finally out of the deep freeze with temps in 40’s today. Most of our ice and snow is melted. Just noticed they’re forecasting snow for Saturday! Wish I knew how we offended Mother Nature ๐Ÿ˜‰

  11. Ugh…we had problems with our septic, we think a pipe is frozen. It is definitely time for this to be over! It seems like every day the weathermen tell us TOMORROW will be warmer, and then when it gets here, it’s TOMORROW again! LOL It has to come, right?

  12. I had fun joining in your Barks & Bytes blog hop! am very excited about the ‘springing ahead’ this weekend! I love longer daylight in the evenings. I love the snow and cold, and truth be told, the “polar vortex” days this winter made the highs in the 40’s seem like spring. Even the crocus flowers in our yard think it’s time to bloom already! Your photos are fantastic! I really wish we’d had that much snow here in my neck of the Appalachian mountains of VA. Have fun and enjoy the warmer temps.

  13. Wow! I love these pictures. Living in sunny Sydney I don’t get to experience such a cold climate. I love seeing how happy these 2 brown dawgs are!
