The weather for training on Saturday was cold and windy…again!  To me it felt like the coldest training day so far.  Maybe it was because assorted weather people claimed that it would be a decent day.  Wrong.  Overcast, cold, and windy.  A very cold wind.

Of course the dogs didn’t mind.  They were ready to go and at least most of the snow has melted from our training field.  Now if only the ponds would open.

Sunday was the complete opposite of Saturday.  The weather was beautiful.  Sunny with light winds.  We were up at our cabin where there is still a foot of snow in some spots, but it is starting to melt.  Yesterday was the first day that felt like Spring might finally be on the way.

And ready or not today is opening day for Detroit Tiger baseball.  They are predicting temperatures in the mid-50’s, (yeah right).  I am not sure who decided that March 31st would be a good day to pick for baseball’s opening day in Michigan. Boys of Summer indeed.

Tomorrow I will have the set-ups that we ran during Saturday’s training.

  1. Oh well at least Sunday was better. Let us hope that was the start of Spring for you. Hawk has nominated you for our Share It Sunday. Do you want to email me the link to the post you’d like me to host and your own nomination for the week after? We are at mollyDOTthewallyATbtinternetDOTcom.
    Have a marvellous Monday.
    Best wishes Molly

    1. Oh wow that is great Molly. Thanks to Hawk for the nom! I will email you the link and my nomination. 🙂

  2. 🙂 At least the Tigers get to play downstate – they’d be in real trouble if they had opening day up here! Today is one of those days where we can feel the hint of spring but the large, dirty snow banks lining the roads certainly don’t scream, “Play ball!” The dogs though, seem to know what time of year it is and they’re getting excited.

  3. Looks like the pups had fun regardless of the weather!
Actually, their focus is even more impressive. Post-melt, and as things are starting to sprout, Moses and Alma are definitely more distracted with sniffing all the newly uncovered spring scents – especially when given off-leash time. I can’t imagine having to combat that interest to get them to repeatedly retrieve markers.

  4. I bought new sandals on Saturday. Spring had better get here. I feel like we’re living in Game of Thrones, but instead of “Winter is coming,” it’s “Winter is never leaving!”

  5. It sounds like there’s some hope for the weather to change. I’m sure you’ll be happy when the snow is all gone and it’s nice out.

  6. They told us that it was supposed to be in the 50’s yesterday, instead we got a cold, steady drizzle that was very raw. I don’t really think they know.

Fingers crossed you got that promised weather.

  7. We got dumped on with snow on Saturday. It was so depressing! Looks like a decent week ahead, I hope!
My kids both start their Spring sports this week so I’m hoping Spring hurries up and stays!

  8. Actually, considering the winter we just came out of, the weather forecast for today’s Tigers game is COMPLETE LUCK and beyond FANTASTIC!! I have been to opening day games where it has SNOWED!

  9. I sure hope Spring settles in for you soon. It is such a tease when one day is warmer and then the next is cold, cold, cold.
    Happy Monday.

  10. That awful wind is really what kills it with temperature! Baseball starting now in the northland is a bit soon we think too!

  11. We had a decent day on Saturday and then Sunday was rain, freezing rain, cold, windy, and today no better. They’re promising better tomorrow….but it seems like they keep saying that!
Boys of summer, indeed….we can’t even get spring going!
I’m glad you still got outside some over the weekend….I did get one of the dogs for a walk on Saturday and we spent some time in the yard too.

  12. Yes, I don’t know how some of these baseball teams are going to stand it playing outdoors when it’s still so cold in many areas! (Such as the Minnesota Twins.) I hope it warms up for you guys soon, but I’m glad the dogs still got to get out for some fun! I love the pictures of your happy dogs.

  13. Wind chill is always the worst to me. Hope you have some real spring weather soon!

  14. I’m surprised the Brown Dawgs remember how to run on regular ground! I’m glad spring may come your way soon!

  15. Looking at the pictures with new eyes now that I learn the dogs should be close in colour to their working environment 😉
