I promised you a couple of pictures of Freighter wearing the new para-cord collar that JoAnn from Sand Spring Chesapeakes made for him.

Thanks so much JoAnn.  You are very talented.  Freighter loves his new collar!

OK so I don’t have candy on today’s blog, but I wanted to let you know about a new supplement we have been trying.  There was a give-away at the seminar we attended and we won a couple of packages of Fido-Vite.  The company has a few different formulas, including one with Glucosamine and Chondtroitin which is for active dogs.  The one we are trying is the basic Fido-Vite with probiotic and coconut oil, (because that is the formulas that we won).  Freighter is the guinea pig the lucky doggie who gets to try it out.  So far he is doing well on it.  I just hope it will help his coat since we have him entered in a couple of shows next month.

I also wanted to give a little explanation about yesterday’s post.  One technique that we learned at the Hillmann seminar was teaching a dog the difference between being crazy to retrieve and sitting still and waiting to retrieve.

It is explained more fully in this video:

We plan to try some of this with Freighter.  What could it hurt?  It isn’t all we plan to do try to reinforce sit, but I think it will help him understand what is expected of him.

If you watch the video, Hillmann talks about making the dog crazy with a bumper.  I am pretty sure he didn’t mean this crazy…

  1. It’s a great collar, bet all girls will sing the “awww-song” :o) many thanks for sharing another great video, there are so much things we never tried and what are very helpful. specially the switch on/off lesson is great!

  2. That’s a beautiful color, we love ours too, but I rarely wear them because I don’t want them dirtied. 🙂 And I’m really disappointed there is no candy, what’s up with that? Are you pulling a bait and switch? LOL

  3. Love your new paracord collar! So handsome 🙂

  4. Freighter is so handsome in his new collar! Did anyone think he ever lacked enthusiasm? Even in the ring? What a character! And a favorite…

  5. Freighter looks super handsome in his new collar! From the title, I thought maybe JoAnn sent you some candy as well! 🙂

  6. We noticed at the vet this morning they were selling a bunch of para cord leashes. They looked really nice. I’m sure they were handmade as well.

  7. That is a great new collar! JoAnn is incredible and now I see that she makes collars too! Wow! I’m sure that Freighter will be great in the upcoming shows. : )

  8. It looks like Freighter does crazy quite well….LOL. I love the collar and it looks great on him. Those supplements sound like they have some really good ingredients in them.

  9. What a shot! (especially that last photo). Don’t you just love that dog collar? JoAnn is such a sweetie – she sent my crew each one and I LOVE them 🙂
