May showers bring…wait that is not the way the saying goes, but the last couple of days we have had our fair share of rain.

We had a beautiful weekend for the holiday.  Warm and sunny and no coat required.  You heard that right, no coat.

In past years Memorial weekend has been cold, or rainy, or both, but not this year.  This year was glorious.

However the glorious was over Tuesday afternoon when we were treated to buckets of rain.  Not a thunderstorm.  Just buckets of rain.

Then yesterday morning more of the same.  Buckets of rain.

We have a detention area behind our house.  It is there to hold the rain run off and is tied to the storm sewer.

In all the years (over 20 now) that we have lived here, I have never seen it really fill up.  I always said if it ever filled we better start building an ark.

Well on both Tuesday and Wednesday it looked like this:

No Its Not Our New Pond
No Its Not Our New Pond

Yikes!  That is the run off after about 15 minutes crazy of rain.

Just how long do you think it might take to build an ark?  🙂

This is the Thursday Bark And Bytes Blog Hop hosted by 2 Brown Dawgs and Heart Like A Dog.

The Barks And Bytes hop is for anything at all and all bloggers are welcome.  You don’t have to be a dog blog to join.  Why not try it out!

For new blog hoppers, a blog hop is a linky list that is shared on multiple blogs.  In order to be fair to all participants we ask you to please display the linky list or link back to your hosts.

  1. We had tons of rain over the weekend too! Memorial Day was horrible weather and we didn’t do anything. It’s still been kind of overcast but not as rainy. We could use it though.

  2. LOL not sure how long it takes to build an ark but we Noah man that knows. We have exactly the same weather which started on our Bank Holiday Monday and is just easing up today touch wood. Well the garden at least appreciates it. Have a tremendous Thursday.
    Best wishes Molly

  3. Thankfully our huge rain spell seems to have ended and we are drying out. We had a day of rain on Tuesday, but that was necessary. Hopefully our warm and sunny weather is heading east to your guys.

  4. I know how you feel! Any time it rains buckets here, the water flows downhill from our neighbors’ yard across ours, and some flows under the outside door of the porch and soaks the porch floor at the lower end of the house.

  5. Wow it is a new pond for your dogs. I love thunderstorms but once here and there is nice but not rain all the time. I got the inside of ghetto car washed as I left my windows open on tue during the rain storm.

    1. LOL Jim was headed off to do some raining with the dogs on Tuesday evening. They were in the back of the truck with the windows open when the heavens opened so it got a good wash too!

  6. That’s really a lot of rain. We have that wet stuff too here since weeks. Maybe it’s not time for an ark, but a rubber dinghy or such a venetian gondola could be a good idea…

  7. We had a decent weekend, some rain and there was thunder storm in there somewhere, but I can’t remember which day. We had flash flood warnings in our area, but we live about 2/3 or 3/4 up a fairly large hill. We can’t go much higher, so I don’t worry about it. Did you get flash flood warnings?

    1. I think there were some in our general area. We don’t have hills or rivers so we usually don’t see them in my area. It was crazy how hard it was raining.

  8. We had the April and now the May showers. Memorial Day weekend was 3 days of rain. Mom and Dad worked through the rain to get the Veggies in for our summer garden. It seems we get bits of sun and then rain.

  9. Did you send the rains my way…because it hasn’t rained a drop all month and today, well…it looks like storms are moving in. But, we need the rain here in Florida…it has been so dry that the lakes are getting really low. Good luck building an ark…by the time you build it, you probably won’t need it anymore. Such is life, eh?
    Happy Thursday,

  10. Hi Y’all!

That pond…err…drainage, runoff pond…looks like a great place for a brown dog to cool off on a hot summer day like today…90’s shortly after sunrise with nighttime lows in the 70’s.

We’ve been getting downpours but they’re associated with thunderstorms.

    Y’all come by now,
    Hawk aka BrownDog

  11. It took Noah a hundred years to build an ark, but that was without power tools. You could get it done in fifty, max.

  12. I’m glad you at least had a nice holiday weekend before the deluge came! We had rain off and on over the weekend, but overall it was nice. We also got buckets of rain Tuesday afternoon…which led to a bad accident not far from our house, and we lost power for most of the evening. Yesterday was dreary and drizzly, today is beautiful, and tomorrow the rain will be back again! I think this is all typical spring weather though.

  13. If you build that ark, come by and get us, will ya? I think we may need it too. Our ground is so wet, it can’t hold much either. But I try not to complain because it’s good for our well and the dogs who love to play in it, right? 🙂 Hope you’re enjoying your day!! Take care, okay?

  14. We have had lots of rain recently too. Our yard has a little stream running through it yesterday. Hope the sun comes out for you soon!

  15. We have been fortunate not to have torrential rains, so far this spring. It would be nice if we could spread downpours over the hot dry summer months!

  16. It’s crazy how some areas get buckets of rain and we can’t get any! Too bad you can’t send us some of those buckets of rain!

  17. That’s a lot of rain! We’ve had hail recently, but it’s been warm so we still ended up with huge puddles!

  18. That’s a huge puddle for a short span of rain. I hope nothing serious is going on. I hate the rain too, it stops me and my dogs from going out and playing under the sun. I wish we get to see a bright and sunny summer soon! – Johnson

  19. We are still getting tons of rain, water standing everywhere. It has been raining off and on more on than off since Tuesday. Chancy is not liking it at all and he sure don’t like the thunder that comes with some of the heavy downpours. Maybe we will all see sunshine soon, then it will be grass mowing time. Hugs and nose kisses
