To me blueberries mean summer. There is nothing better than fresh ripe blueberries.
We have some wild huckleberry bushes at our cabin. These berries are very similar to blueberries.
Unfortunately they won’t be ripe for another month.
While we wait for the huckleberries to ripen, we make do with some yummy blueberries from a local market.
Since we stayed close to home this past holiday weekend, I actually had time to make the brown dawgs a treat.
Frozen Blueberries And Yogurt
Put about half a container of fresh blueberries in your blender.
Chop. Just a bit until coarse.
Add about half a cup of plain non-fat yogurt and blend a bit more.
Put the mixture in small silicone ice-cube trays and freeze until solid, or overnight. I had a tray that made treats shaped like a bone and one that made treats shaped like a mitten (in honor of Michigan).
Once they are frozen solid, you just pop them out of the tray and let the dawgs enjoy.
You really can’t go wrong making this treat. I didn’t measure anything. I just kind of eyeballed it. (Oh no I have turned into my Grandmother. That is how she used to tell me her recipes!)
You could add more or less fruit. More or less yogurt. The amount I made filled up two of the smaller trays to make a total of 12 treats.
It could not have been easier.
How did the brown dawgs like them?
And Now For The Give-Away
The brown dawgs know there are a lot of dogs (and kitties) out there who have to get baths but do not like them. They got to thinking: What if a bath could be something to look forward to? What if the shampoo reminded doggies (and kitties) of something that they love?
It just so happens that the nice people at All Pet Naturals approached us about picking one of their products for a giveaway. All Pet Naturals offers a wide variety of natural, organic and eco-friendly pet products including food, supplements, treats, collars, beds and aromatherapy.
They also offer natural grooming supplies and so we picked South Bark Blueberry Facial & Pet Shampoo for our give-away.

Blueberries are the absolute best part of summer for me! I just finished a bowl of cereal with nectarines and blueberries in it, we have homemade blueberry muffins in the fridge and made blueberry-chocolate-chip cookies last night! Since I don’t like the summer heat, once the local blueberry season is done, I’m pretty much done with summer LOL.
The shampoo sounds lovely, but Daisy’s on a special shampoo for her allergy-prone skin, so please don’t enter us in the giveaway. Have a wonderful day!
I’d love to try this shampoo on my little shih-Tzu, Toby. She’s white and gets those dreaded tear stains around her eyes. I love that this shampoo is tearless and the name is so cute. 😉
Love blueberries! We make frozen yogurt/fruit cubes all the time and love when the summer berries are less expensive so we can freeze and add.
We would like to try the blueberry shampoo!

Mr. N would like a blueberry facial!
I love blueberries! One of my flyball teammates has a ton of blueberry bushes and learned a few years ago that I love blueberries- now, when summer comes, the blueberry fairy comes to my car during flyball practice and leaves me a bag full of fresh picked berries.
Also, I would love to try the shampoo. The dogs might be less enthusiastic about the prospect of baths, but I think the scent sounds awesome.
Yum this sounds good! Rosie especially loves blueberries 🙂
would love to try this! thanks for the chance.
I would love to try the shampoo on my Yellow Lab Lucy!
I love fresh blueberries, and have also made those yogurt treats for the dogs….they love them. We’ve planted four bushes in our yard but it’s taken a couple years to get a decent crop…this might be our first year getting enough to actually make something with them!
The shampoo sounds nice…I wish I was brave enough to give the cat a bath….LOL. We’ll pass on the giveaway this time since I just bought some other shampoo to try so we’re pretty well stocked on it!
Yummmmmmm! Blueberries! We make frozen cubes like these sometimes, but haven’t done so with blueberries. We would love to try some blueberry shampoo!

i would love to try thanks for the chance
We love Pet Naturals so of course, we would love to try their new shampoo! I had to laugh when I read you eye-balled it! I asked my mother-in-law how to make her famous spaghetti and cheese when I was a newlywed. (32 years ago) When she got to the part where you add milk, I asked how much to add. “Just until it looks right!” was her response. Now that I’m the mother-in-law, that is exactly what I tell the young family members when they ask me. I am keeping her beautiful legacy alive and well, it just how I measure it! hahaha!!
wow such a novel idea! i bet it smells great! would love to try it!
Great giveaway! We would absolutely love to try this shampoo. The thought of my dogs smelling like blueberries is wonderful! I bet the dogs would like it too 🙂
