We hope all of our US friends had a nice Thanksgiving weekend.  We are back from our week up at the cabin.

We had some interesting weather last week.  It was cold when we got to the cabin and there was a couple of inches of snow on the ground.  Then it rained which washed the snow away.  Rain in November is no fun to go out and play in so the brown dawgs were stuck inside.

Last Tuesday we got more snow.  Wet heavy snow.  The brown dawgs could not wait to get out and have some fun.

Unfortunately, we don’t keep a lot of toys up at the cabin and nothing really great for playing in the snow.  The only toy I had for outside was an Air Kong Fetch Stick.

If you aren’t familiar with these, they are similar to a tennis ball, but shaped more like a fat stick and they squeak.  The are covered with the same material as tennis balls which does not make them ideal for playing in the snow because…

Of course if Freighter simply retrieved the toy, it might have been OK, but he  kept trying to bury it before retrieving it.  Since this was play time, I let him have his fun.

Finally Bringing It Back

I had to keep banging off the snow so I could toss it again.  This got old really quick.

Finally I decided this Kong is not a great snow toy so I put it up on the wood pile.  Freighter did not agree.

Psst Freighter it is on the woodpile.

I didn’t get it down.  Instead we went and found some training bumpers and worked with those.  I will have those pictures on Friday’s post.

  1. Rain after snow is never good. I guess you need to get a few toys to keep at the cabin for the dogs to play with! Bailie was tracking down her toys in the yard and digging them out this weekend.

  2. Poor Freighter. He does look like he’s trying hard to get the kong.

  3. LOL who could resist that sweet face? We would have just given it back again. Wow you sure have had a lot of snow. Have a marvellous Monday.
    best wishes Molly

  4. Wow that Freighter is one smart pup! Great series of photos. The cabin property looks like a beauiful winter wonderland! 🙂

  5. Look at all the fun one can have in the snow! I would think that a tennis ball type toy would not be the best choice for snow but I didn’t think so much snow would stick. BOL I hope the bumpers worked better and that Freighter still got to bury something.

  6. That sounded like our weather. We had 4″ of snow for 2days then it rained until the snow was gone. Course Aspen insisted on playing out in the rain too fun!!
Sorry Freighter the toy is just out of reach, but snow is still fun:)

  7. Yay for fun in the snow, even if you didn’t have the perfect toy! Can’t wait to see more photos.

  8. Oh, with that sweet look on Freighter’s face I would not have been able to resist, I would have gotten that toy down quick as a wink for him. We will be looking forward to seeing the next playtime pictures. Hugs and nose kisses

  9. Hi Y’all!

My Humans tend to hide my toys up in the tree branches when we’re in the low country.

    Y’all come on by,
