Happy New Year
Happy New Year

Welcome to the first Thursday Barks And Bytes Hop of 2015!  We wish you a happy and healthy 2015.

Resolutions

Last year we participated in the Resolve To Move Your Mutt Blog Hop hosted by SlimDoggy and Keep the Tail Wagging.  We shared photos of our pups with their resolutions for 2014.

It is time to check and see how the brown dawgs did.

Thunder first:

Thunder Resolves To Stay In Shape Even Though He Will Be 8 In March

Thunder did a great job with his resolution.  He is retired from hunt testing but he is still a hunting dog so he needs to stay in shape.  We make sure to get him out to exercise often and we watch his diet so that he maintains his weight.

Storm next:

Storm had to work at keeping her resolution.  She turned seven in June and is spayed, so it can be more difficult to control her weight.  We measure her food and make sure she gets plenty of exercise.  If for whatever reason she is a bit less active, we cut her food back to compensate.

Finally Freighter:

Freighter is still working on his resolution.  We were hoping to get his Senior title on him last summer, but darn it is hard to sit or even think straight when they are shooting ducks.

All three dogs picked good resolutions last year and will continue to work on them in 2015.  Many thanks to SlimDoggy for reminding us to review our results.

Instagram

Do you have an Instagram account?  I have been trying to spend more time with mine.

This past year I tried to devote some time to becoming comfortable with Twitter.  Despite getting an excellent tutorial from Becoming Cliche,  I am not there yet.  I don’t know if it is because I cannot say anything meaningful in 140 characters, or if it is all the code used.  Favorite?  Retweet?  Hashtag?  What?  It moves super fast.  Before you know it there are loads more tweets.

My one big bugaboo is that I have to resize the photos that I take with my camera in order to post them on Twitter.  It is just one more thing to do when I am short on time so I don’t do it as often as I would like.

I plan to continue to try to work with Twitter.  Maybe one day it will be easier for me, but in the meantime, I am having fun messing around on Instagram.  It is easy to use on my phone and I like that I can easily share the pictures with my other social media accounts.

I heard the other day that Instagram has more users than Twitter.  I guess it is growing quickly.  In fact next week I will have a give-away for the Whistle pet activity monitor that will be run exclusively on Instagram.  The nice people at Whistle requested that we use Instagram and it works out since I have been wanting to spend a bit more time using my account.

I will post more about the monitor and give-away on the blog and on Instagram next Monday.  If you don’t have an Instagram account you have time to create one.  If you already have an account, great.  Feel free to post your address in the comments so I can find you, or better yet, follow the brown dawgs and we will follow you back.  You can access our account by clicking the Instagram widget on the sidebar.  Or directly by clicking:  http://instagram.com/2browndawgs

  1. Happy New Year!! Those resolutions are great and I’m glad you were able to keep up with them!! I usually don’t make resolutions, lol!! I hear you on instagram and twitter. I like Instragram way more than twitter and same here about the twitter language. I just can’t seem to get into it! Maybe I should try to do better this year with twitter. 😀

  2. Mumma is going to try to get her girlish figure back – she’s finding it more difficult too 😉 We’ve resolved to help her, but we love her just the way she is! Happy New Year! Bella, Beary & Bubba x

  3. Hi Y’all!

I leave resolutions to you Humans. i prefer living each moment.

As for my Human doing anything like Instagram, she can barely take photos with her phone. Why one time at a family breakfast she thought she was takin’ a photo and got a second of video. She’s never figured how to do video again, Then she closed her phone only to have it continue to record the surrounding conversation and the inside cover of the phone! BOL!

She and Papa spend long hours workin’ and going to meetin’s and travelin’, so she’s never even learned to edit the photos she takes of me! Humans are crazy, you know that?

Got a lot of suggestions for resolutions for her there, don’t y’all think? Think she’ll take the hint?

    Happy New Year!

  4. Happy New Year!!! The Brown Dawgs have done a great job with their resolutions!

I resolved a long time ago to not make any more resolutions. They just led to more stress when I didn’t keep up with them, and the last thing I need is more stress! Besides, hubby and I are now both retired and it’s time to enjoy life not be stressed by it. I have enough to do with my blog, Facebook, Google+, and Instagram – I have no intention of adding Twitter to the list. Have fun!

  5. Think my mom will join Team Storm, butt I have some doubts I my momma can reach that goal :o) she said something about diet while she ate a whole gingerbread man…. .O)

  6. Happy New Year to all of you!! I like Instagram better than Twitter myself for the very same reasons.

  7. Happy New Year! The Brown Dogs sure did a great job with their resolutions. Here’s to similar success in the new year. Wishing you a 2015 full of happiness, health and light!

  8. Thanks for the update on your resolutions…so glad the brown dogs did so well. I use Twitter a lot, but mostly to tweet blog posts and articles of interest. I’ll check out your Instagram promo.

  9. Happy New Year to you all! Great job on those resolutions and we have to side with Freighter on a work in progress as that is a tough resolution.

  10. Congratulations on doing so well on those resolutions! I thought we were already following you on Instagram but it turns of we weren’t ! ((gasp!)) I have since rectified that, though. 🙂 Happy New Year!

  11. Twitter takes a while to get the hang of. I’m not on Instagram because I don’t have a cell, and the last time I checked, Instagram only allows uploads from mobile devices. Am I right? Maybe one day YOU can teach me all about Instagram!

    1. Yes you are right. You can only upload from a cell. My guess is that one day they will change that. When it started you could not comment or like from a pc, but now you can. I am not sure how it works with tablets (don’t have one). If I want to post a picture from my pc, I just email it to myself. It is one more step, but it is a quick one. Faster than opening my editing software, resizing and saving.

Both twitter and FB phone apps have their drawbacks too. FB will not let me look at my page feed on my phone. I do not understand why that is. It is one reason I have not spent time there lately. I simply cannot access it. The twitter phone app is decent–but at the cabin with one bar of 3G, I can’t open most twitter postings if they are articles or videos. That isn’t that app’s issue but a service issue.

Even though it can be slow at times, I can usually get Instagram pictures to load with one bar of service.

  12. Congratulations on how well you did with last year’s resolutions! Some things are always going to be a work in progress. 🙂
I struggle with Twitter myself, and Instagram interests me but since I can’t keep up with everything else, I’m not sure the time is right to take it on. It is on my list though!
    Happy New Year!
