Welcome to the Thursday Barks and Bytes blog hop!

Storm’s Daughter Jessie

As promised, here are a few more pictures of Storm’s puppy Jessie who is all grown up!

Jessie is a sweet girl and did well for her first weekend in the show ring going Winners Bitch and Best Of Winners on Sunday.  The last picture of Jessie reminds me so much of Storm.  They have such a similar silhouette.

Michigan Chesapeake Bay Retriever Club Supported Entry

On May 16, 2015 the Michigan Chesapeake Bay Retriever Club will support the entry of Chesapeake Bay Retrievers at the Genesee County Kennel Club Show in Corunna, MI.  This is the 5th straight year for the MCBRC to support the entry at this show and every year it seems like the prizes get better.

If you don’t know what a supported entry is, it is when a club supports another club by offering prizes and trophies for placements.  In addition to the regular breed classes and Best Of Breed, there may be non-regular classes offered.  Also a Puppy and Veteran Sweepstakes may be held.  In addition to prizes, puppies and veterans placing in sweeps get a cut of the purse.

At the Genesee show there will be Puppy and Veteran Sweeps, Regular Classes, Best Of Breed and Non-Regular Hunting and Veterans Classes.  Also, the Michigan Chesapeake Bay Retriever Club will be hosting a luncheon open to all Chessie exhibitors.

Doesn’t it sound like fun?

These are some of the prizes offered, (posted with permission).

This is only a sampling.  Check out more on the MCBRC Event page here.  If you have a Chessie come and join us.  You can download the Premium here.  Entries close April 29, 2015.

Total Eclipse Of The Moon

Last Saturday some parts of the county saw a total lunar eclipse.  Unfortunately we did not get a total eclipse, only a partial.  I should have set up my tripod, but I didn’t so here is a not so great photo of the moon between trees.

  1. Jessie looks so sweet and pretty! 🙂 I totally missed the eclipse – – haha 😛 Have a great weekend ahead!

  2. I agree they both look wonderful!!! and I bow my head with shame when I remember my bad photos of the solar eclipse, LOL . your moon photo is just great!!!

  3. I’m wondering do these “family” members interact with one another, or realize they are somehow related? Bailie met two of her sisters just a few weeks after we adopted her and they all acted like total strangers. Mom couldn’t believe it. We are going to stop at her breeder on the way to BlogPaws and are interested to see if she remembers the place or any of her siblings or parents who still live there.

    1. I think it depends on how frequently they see each other. Thunder always remembers his Tule and that is the case no matter where they meet. I think Freighter remembers his sis Sunny, at least he did when they were young. But then again at that time they were together a lot. Storm has not really seen any of her pups since they went off to their new homes. I am not sure she would remember, but she might. I can’t wait to hear how you visit goes. 🙂

  4. Hi Y’all!

Oh Jessie is such a pretty girl.

    Y’all come on by,
    Hawk aka BrownDog

  5. I know I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating – your dogs have extremely good looking family lines. Great shot of the partial eclipse!

  6. Jessie is definitely a beautiful Chessie! I don’t think we even noticed the eclipse so that is a great photo to us!

  7. Jessie look lovely.
I’d say your photograph of the moon is good. When we’ve tried we’ve been looking at a picture of the sky and eventually found a white dot!

  8. Darn it I missed the eclipse; I had no idea. Jessie is beautiful and seeing them like that really does show the resemblance.

  9. Jessie is a beauty, and her build and stance look so much like Storm’s. What a great collection of prizes for the dog show!
Thanks for sharing the eclipse photo…we were cloudy here so didn’t get to see it.

  10. Jessie is beautiful (just like her mom) although she does (at least from the pics) look lighter in coloring than Storm. But you can definitely see the resemblance.

I only have my little point and shoot camera so pictures of the moon are out for me, but I think you got a pretty good shot.

    1. Jessie is lighter. She is closer in color to her dad. She is a pretty light brown.

  11. Wow, she is beautiful and I love that eye color.

  12. It is always interesting to see what characteristics carry through a breeding. Sometimes it is a coat pattern, or head shape or personality. Once in a while it is almost a total clone! Wspecially at certain stages of development.
Hopefully Genesee weather will be pleasant. Outdoor show which some Chessies prefer, but a great space for May show. Hope to see some new folks there, especially to cheer for the Brown
    Dawgs.

    1. If Glory would cooperate, you could come for the show a the breeding. 🙂
