Sunday Freighter ran a hunt test, but Saturday Freighter was in the show ring.  The shows and the hunt tests fell on the same weekend so we had to pick which to enter.  We decided to split the weekend since we were not sure whether Freighter would be steady enough to run back to back hunt tests and we are still trying to finish up his show championship.

The show was a supported entry so it drew a lot of entries and there were prizes for placements.  It was also an outside show.  The day kept threatening rain but it never came and I was able to take some pictures.

Hubby has been devoting most of his training time to Freighter’s hunt test training so we were not sure how Freighter would do at an outside show with all of the distractions that brings.  Freighter did great and showed wonderfully.

Freighter won his class but did not take the points so we are still working for the last few points to finish his CH title.  He did win a nice prize for winning his class.

We have him entered in a couple more shows, but he is losing his coat so that will probably be the last two until fall.

It was a busy weekend which required Freighter to change gears from show to hunt test.  He really has matured in his ability to go from one venue to another.  One of the things that I like best about Chessies is that they are a versatile breed.  Our dogs often go from the show ring to training or testing or hunting.

  1. JIm and Freighter really look good. He moves so nicely and has a great free stack. When Jim is done with Freighter I will send Glory up and he can wear his yellow jacket with her. 😉

  2. Agree on versatility of Chessies, have always said they develop a sense of place. Home, hunting, hunt test, vet :~), therapy work, crowds, show ring, class, walking… after a few times in a location with the corresponding activity, it is as if they have total recall of behavior in that spot.
Though those two were just some very professional fellas. Frieghter will come through with those points. Being out of doors was a plus.

  3. Bravo Freiaghter! That was like a balm for my mommas wounded soul to see you in the ring! I like outside shows much more than the shows in a hall, the noise level in this halls screams for earmuffs :o)

    1. Hi Easy, why don’t you wear earmuffs? One of the Derby horses wore them! Hawk aka BrownDog

  4. Hi Y’all!

Congratulations Freighter! A fun busy weekend for you! Variety is the spice of life!

    Y’all come on by,

  5. Oh, oh, oh, I saw his tongue out when the judge was going over his shoulder. Did he try and kiss again? LOL

    1. I don’t think so. I think hubby stuck a treat in his face…lol.
