Today is Labor Day.  It’s the unofficial end to summer.  Kids go back to school and the days start getting shorter.  Soon we will be able to shut off the air conditioner and open the windows.

The brown dawgs are excited because it also means that hunting season will soon be here.

They say bring it on!

HAPPY LABOR DAY!

  1. YES!!! I cannot wait to shut off the air conditioner and open the windows to let the fall chill in…when it eventually gets here. Summer isn’t giving up easily here – today is hot and humid, temps expected to be in the 90s. We woke up to total fog and everything drenched as if it had rained. I’m SO done with this!!

  2. Happy Labor Day to you! And yes, I’m in hunting fever too :o) Now that 87k bunnies in my area should look for their running shoes …

  3. Shadow, Ducky and I are beyond ready for fall to get here! Send the bugs back into hibernation and get some cooler, sunny days to play in the yard all day long. Callie’s spirit will be with us too…she loved the cooler days of fall!

  4. That sounds like a fun kind of work for your dogs. Happy Labor Day!

  5. I haven’t heard about all of the game here, but I know elk hunting was cancelled this year due to our drought. It wouldn’t surprise me if they cancelled other seasons as well for the same reason. It would be a bummer to the hunters, of course, but I also know that Fish and Wildlife wouldn’t cancel the season unless it was important for them to do so.

    1. At one point they talked about cancelling the deer season up north because the herd was devastated by a harsh winter. I think they ending up opening it, but limited.

  6. We hope you had a great holiday and weekend. It feels more like the middle of summer here. In fact, I think it’s been hotter the past few days than it was all summer! We’re ready for fall now.

  7. Beautiful photo. We still have about another month (at least) of summer temps, but the shadows are beginning to look like fall. It’s a hopeful sign! Happy end of summer to you, and happy hunting!
