Freighter has heard all this talk about “going back to school”.  Around here, the kids go back to school today.  They will be waiting by the bus stops dressed in their new school clothes and carrying their backpacks full of new school supplies.

Freighter thinks it might be kind of fun to “go back to school”.

Except he is not sure about having to get up early to get ready.

Freighter Is Not Sure About Having To Get Up Early.

Freighter shoved his doubts aside and gathered his school supplies.  Going back to school is all about working a dog’s brain.  He decided Dr. Seuss flashcards would do the trick so he made sure to get those out.

Working your brain is important, but as far as Freighter is concerned, school supplies must include lunch.  So he also got out his “Horton Hears A Who!” lunchbox and his “Cat In The Hat” water bottle. No sense going hungry or thirsty.

Freighter says there is a lot to this “going back to school” but he is ready!  All that is left is to wait for the school bus.

If you are going back to school like Freighter, have a great first day!

  1. Freighter you can enter my school of endless wisdom… we always start late and it is allowed to sleep when you are bored…and you need no school bus, just a compawter :o)

  2. As a retired teacher, our Mom loves this entry! First, because she believes kids should have summer right up until Labor Day. After the Jazz Fest , parades and picnics. Then let the work of learning begin. Secondly, she always carried her own lunch to school, healthy! Once things settled down we would go visit her classroom. Initially some students saw us coming down the hallway and thought we were “drug dogs”! But when we turned into Miss J’s room, we were there to make sure everyone was cooperating and learning, and to receive lots of pets! High school is a very interesting place!!! Thanks for the memories. Have a good school year, all!

  3. Oh, The Places You’ll Go – That’s my favorite one! Every year when fall rolls around and it’s back to school time, it takes me right back to when I was standing in those new clothes waiting on the bus in the morning.

  4. What a fun post and sweet Freighter did an excellent job getting his things all together for back to school. We like that there is lunch time and learning both at school too. We don’t have anyone in school at our place any longer…we are old peeps but we have grands and great-grands in school and they did a good job getting ready for school too. They have been in school for about two weeks now. Hugs and nose kisses

  5. We all saw lots of kids at bus stops on our run and walks this morning. Bailie wanted to jump on all the kids, she seems to feel they are standing there waiting for her! Thankfully, no one is in school here. Mom never liked school, so it makes her quite happy not having to go.
