One day Storm was just hanging out in the yard.

When all of a sudden….AMBUSH!

What The???
What The???
Here Come Crazy Freighter
Here Comes Crazy Freighter
Freighter Likes To Play Rough
To Ambush Poor Storm
Storm Escapes Him

But Here Comes Freighter Again
But Here Comes Freighter Again

At that point we cut it off.  Freighter is stronger and heavier than Storm and he can play rough so they do not get to wrestle.  They can chase but not wrestle no matter how fun it might look.  Sometimes wrestling can start off fun until one of them gets ticked or hurt and then it can turn out not so fun so we discourage it.

  1. Oh the look in storms eyes… I agree with you, wrestling can end that way. Easy only starts such games with his dad… he fortunately can’t bite back… but he sometimes wishes he could :o)

  2. Those are some great photos – I love Storm’s wide-eyed expression as Freighter make his attack. 🙂 I can certainly understand why you put a limit to that kind of activity, I’ve seen many dogs start off with good-natured play-attacks that suddenly turn ugly. Best to err on the side of caution.

  3. That was fun!!! We agree though, we let it get to a certain point with Sheba and Luke and then we step in. Especially if there’s a toy involved, sometimes they get carried away with themselves. And believe it or not, it’s mostly Sheba that we have to watch more closely!

  4. Welcome to the world of Erynn, who is the ambush Princess! Queen Macha considers her a nuisance. It was all right when Little Butt was a puppy but she is older, wiser and full of masterful moves. At 11, the senior girl just wants to enjoy the out-of-doors, or save her energy for other pursuits ~ swimming, going for a walk, tracking, guarding the house, hunting, all of her lifetime activities. BE, before Erynn!

  5. Looks like what Bailie does to me, but we wrestle too. Sometimes it gets tough, but we always work it out.

  6. I’ve never noticed how small Storm is; your dogs always look so big to me. We’re careful about wrestling too. Scout and Zoey can wrestle just fine. Rodrigo tends to be a bit rough and he goes back and forth between playing and dominating so we keep this play to a minimum to avoid any injuries.

Sydney is too much of a princess to wrestle. Instead, she does zoomies or the happy growl in the face that says, let’s go play!

    Then she sits down. LOL

  7. Mine wrestle a bit, but they are super good. The first time someone yips, they stop immediately. They do play some chase, but Sampson isn’t built for that kind of running, so sometimes he just watches Delilah running laps. 🙂

    Great action photos!
