This time of year kids are wondering whether they are on Santa’s Naughty or Nice list.

A certain brown dawg is wondering too.

You may remember that earlier this week the brown dawgs mailed their letters to Santa.  Freighter told Santa that he had been a (mostly) good dog.

Freighter is on pins and needles because he is afraid that Santa might see things differently and he might end up on the Naughty list.

Naughty Or Nice?

Freighter may be 4 years old, but he still has some puppy mischief in him.  He loves to grab shoes and run around with them in his mouth while you stand there with bare feet.  Another favorite past-time is teasing the cat.  Fun for him.  Not so much for the cat.

But the thing that lands him in the dog house the most often is climbing up on the bed at the cabin.

When he is perched on top, he has a perfect view of the road and whoever or whatever might wander down it.  He can also see any critters that wander over to the bird feeder or into the yard.

If he sees something interesting, he feels the need to bark at it, which in turn starts Storm barking.  There goes the peace and quiet.

Sometimes Freighter hears something and that also gets him barking. If he has any hope of seeing what it is, he has to be in a good position which of course is on the bed.  Right?

When Freighter is not peering out the window, he is lounging on the bed.  Stretched out all the way across.  It does not matter that I just washed the bedding.  If no one else is using it, it is fair game, (or so he thinks).

At our house we have a rule — no dogs on the furniture and that includes the bed.  Freighter understands the rule at home.  He never goes on any furniture there.  But up at the cabin I guess he thinks the rule does not apply.  It doesn’t matter how many times I ask tell him to get off, the moment my back is turned, back up on the bed he goes.
