Snow has been hard to find this winter, but the brown dawgs finally found some.  We headed up to our cabin New Year’s Eve.  In a normal year, we usually start getting snow there around Thanksgiving.  But not this year.  This year if we got any precipitation, it was rain, rain and more rain.

Thunder, Storm and Freighter were pleasantly surprised to see about four inches of snow when we arrived at the cabin last Thursday.  Not much, but enough.  They made the most of it and had some fun.

Since they are hunting dogs, Thunder and Storm put there noses to the ground.

Hunting dogs are always working even if they are not officially hunting and they hoped to flush a grouse.

They worked and worked, getting right into the brush.  Unfortunately there were no birds in this area.

Freighter went on a nice long walk alone with hubby in the forest and he did flush a grouse.  Before he left for his walk, Freighter needed to burn off some energy which he did jumping over the snow piles in our yard.

Did you find any snow this past weekend?

  1. Unlike you brown dogs, we are not crazy about snow and sort of hope we don’t get any but we would rather have snow than the darn ice. Glad you all had such a good time in the snow.

  2. We got a small dusting. For the most part, we just had ice and frost. The dogs weren’t complaining. Sydney isn’t a fan of the cold, but she had fun.

  3. We’ve had our snow for about a week now and are still loving it. Sadly, they say it is going to warm up and maybe rain later in the week. We are pretty much resolved to dealing with a bad winter in our opinion. Freighter would love to hang out with Bailie and romp in the snow!

  4. Our temperatures topped out at 80 on Christmas day, so absolutely no snow for us. 😉 But I am happy to see that the Brown Dawgs entered the new year with some winter wonderland play . . . and I am sure that they will find plenty of birds in 2016. Happy New Year!

  5. Our snow has mostly turned to ice. 🙁 Though if it warms up again like it’s supposed to, hopefully we’ll lose that icy crust.
Snow is such a great workout, isn’t it? And so much fun to boot!

  6. We had a small bit of snow, but it barely covered the ground. We aren’t complaining here because I know the dogs will hate it when I make them wear their boots. 🙂

  7. Lots of great smells on the forest floor and above! Freighter needs to try out for doggie long and high jump! He looks very athletics and precise!

  8. I’m glad you finally found it. I guess I should have wrote it sooner. Thanks for reading.
