Hunting season is fast approaching. Hunting season is Thunder’s favorite time of the year so he needs to start getting ready. We try to exercise him regularly during the off season, but it doesn’t hurt to do a bit of extra conditioning the closer we get to opening day. Conditioning is important since Thunder turned 10 years old last March. Last weekend our old hunting dog got out to hunt some training bumpers.
We threw some of the bumpers in the tall reeds at the edge of the pond so Thunder had to mark where the bumper fell and also dig them out of cover.
Thunder loves this kind of training and all too soon it was over for the day. Don’t worry Thunder you will get out for more training soon.

Great work, not so old dog! Macha and Erynn rested up from a rigorious swim the day before, during whoich time Little Butt let a duck come her way and then pounced. Remember this is service dog in training! Stay cool!
I love the way the rope from the bumper is over his nose. We barely got out for walks, never mind training. “-)
Thunder your so handsome and in great shape
You are still doing a great job Thunder and we can te that this is what you love to do. Yes we are training over the weekend and taking a refresher class. Aspen needs to get his Canine Good Citizen. He works well but has just been two active as a puppy to settle down. Hopefully he has calmed down enough to have no problem.
I understand totally having had active puppies. Good luck with the training and CGC.
