Labor Day marks the unofficial end of summer.  Summer vacations are wrapping up and kids are heading back to school.  Many people mourn the end of summer, but not the brown dawgs.  They are looking ahead to hunting season.

Early goose season has already opened, grouse season opens September 15th, woodcock opens September 24th and waterfowl opens October 1st.

The brown dawgs are ready!

Happy end of summer!  Happy Labor Day!

  1. Sounds like you have a busy season ahead of you! We’re looking forward to fall, too, (except for maybe the raking leaves part!) since we can walk any time of day instead of arranging our schedules around temperatures.

  2. End of summer splashes, picnics, festivals and parades. Life of the Chessie is seasonal as well, and the hunt has begun. Good weather and happy pursuit!

  3. I guess it will be your season. October is our season with sports events almost every weekend!

  4. oooh then I was an early berd with killing the birthday berds :o) I can’t wait for fall, the first colorful leaves are there and I enjoy it so much :o) A happy hunting season to the brown dawgs!!!

  5. I’m with the dawgs – I’m thrilled summer is over and fall is beginning! We had 3 beautifully cooler days over Labor Day weekend, and even though this week will be in the 90s again, that breath of fresh air (literally!) will make the short wait to more consistently cooler days more bearable. 🙂

  6. When I was a kid we always went back to school AFTER Labor Day, but this year my grandchildren started school on September 1st!!

I personally love fall, so even though I don’t hunt, I’m with the Brown Dawgs. 🙂
