Today is the first day of Fall.  Time for apples and pumpkins.  If you follow the blog, you know that Fall is the brown dawgs favorite time of year because it is also hunting season.

Unfortunately hunting season is cancelled this year.

What Do You Mean Hunting Season Cancelled?

Thunder wants to know how you can cancel a whole season.  Well the season is not cancelled for everyone, but just for hubby.  You see he had some routine health screening done ahead of hunting season and it turned up an issue which required major surgery to repair.  Unfortunately his recovery will last through Fall and hunting season.

I will try to keep up with blogging, but I will be busy with hubby’s recovery and I need to find things for the brown dawgs to do for exercise since they won’t be out hunting.

I think Thunder will miss hunting season the most.  He lives to hunt but at 10 1/2 his hunting days are numbered.  We were hoping to let him do a couple easy hunts this season but that is not to be.

Still Fall usually brings us wonderful weather and there are still many ways to enjoy it and at least for a few weeks, hubby will be home with the dogs and that should make them happy.

  1. we cross our paws for the surgery and we wish your hubby all the best… hugs to you all, I hope everything goes well and you can enjoy the best season without dark clouds of sorrows…
and hugs to the brown dawgs who will miss this season… I hope their fall season is great anyway, we can hunt pumpkins and crows and there is still the tanksgiving turkey who can end as our prey…

  2. We look forward to cooler weather and our sports events next month. Sorry to hear about your hubby and the hunting season being cancelled. Hope he will be alright and can get back to hunting next season.

  3. Sorry to hear that hunting season has been canceled for your crew! I’m sure your husband will miss it almost as much as the dogs. Sending lots of good thoughts for a speedy recovery.

  4. Oh no, we’re so sorry to hear this. We hope hubby’s surgery and recovery go as well as possible. It’s probably a very good thing he had that health screening done so he can get fixed up and back to hunting next Fall.
We hope you and the dogs can find some ways to enjoy the fall, along with taking care of hubby. Don’t forget to take care of yourself too!

  5. So sorry to hear about hubby’s surgery and having to cancel something you enjoy so much. I hope you’ll find some new ways to enjoy all hanging out together this fall.

Fall is my favorite season by far – I love the cooler weather (just wish we’d start getting that here!), I love how there’s pumpkin everything (I bought some pumpkin tea today and can’t wait for the weather to cool down so I can enjoy it!), and I love anticipating Thanksgiving – my fave holiday!

    1. We love Thanksgiving too. We usually spend it at our cabin, but this year I am not sure. I found pumpkin pancake mix and it is something hubby can eat so this weekend it is pumpkin pancakes and maple syrup.

  6. Oh gosh, I’m so sorry to hear about Hubby. I hope his surgery went well and he is on his way to wellness!

What a bummer for the brown dawgs, of course, the dogs don’t understand, but hopefully you will find some things to do to keep them stimulated.

  7. Awe Thunder I think your mom should take you hunting or at least bring you to me. I’m so sorry to hear Jim can’t hunt this fall but there is always next year, hang in there!
