It’s the first day of winter a/k/a the Winter Solstice and Freighter is jumping for joy!

After a warm fall, the brown dawgs were complaining that they were missing out on snow.  But a couple weeks back, that changed.  We have a ton of snow on the ground and it has been bitterly cold.

The first day of winter means it is the shortest day of the year with the longest night.  Cold and dark never bothers the brown dawgs.  They love to be outside.  If it is cold and snowy, all the better.

Freighter was so excited about the arrival of winter, he was jumping for joy.  Freighter’s people do not feel the same way.  We are not fans of the cold and snow.  The good news is that now the days start getting longer as we inch toward spring.  We can jump for joy about that!

Freighter was good and tired after this workout.  (Thank goodness!)

Are you jumping for joy now that winter has arrived?

  1. I’m with you Freighter… I never saw snow but I think it is a funny stuff… the mama is more with your humans… :o)

  2. Wow, sweet Freighter can really jump high. It is nice to see you again, we have been blogging very little for over a year now but we are trying to get back to it. We hope you are all doing well. Stay warm and safe in the snow and frigid weather. Hugs and nose kisses Maggie, Chancy and Pooh

  3. Yahoo…..go, Freighter! I only enjoy winter as far as the dogs enjoy it. It’s not even the snow I mind….it’s the bundling up. It takes so much time! Now I also have to put boots on Cricket, a coat on Luke, and then bundle myself up. I think it takes longer to get ready to go out than the time we actually spend out there if it’s really cold! LOL

  4. We are loving it, but are sad it will be warm again on Christmas and might rain. We want it to stay cold and snowy.

  5. Those pics are great. Especially love the first one – he looks so happy! But I agree with you – cold and bitter temps and dark are not my idea of fun. However, I do love the winter here in San Diego. It rarely gets truly cold, and I love that it finally cools down enough to have the fire going and make soups and snuggle up and all that good stuff!

  6. Wow! He can really get some air! Barley and Rye love the cold, but I’m with you on being excited about Spring!
