This ‘N That Thursday is for those times when you want to post about unrelated topics or each topic isn’t quite long enough to make up a whole post.  It can be anything you want, so feel free to grab the button and join us!

This 'N That 3

Thank You

I would like to thank Dorene, who is one of Storm’s breeders, for handling Storm in the show this past Saturday.

Nice Job!

Nice Job!

Storm can be a bit of a handful.  Dog shows are not her favorite thing.  She had a bad experience with a judge who startled her as a puppy so she would rather be anywhere but a show.  She is more relaxed at outdoor shows, but they conflict with hunt test season.  This indoor show was a chance to see how she would do now that she is older.  I thought she did well in the ring and looked more relaxed than I have seen her.  It is because Dorene does a such nice job with her.

At Least My Tail Is Up

At Least Her Tail Is Up

This picture is from one of the last indoor shows Storm did in 2010.  As you can see, she is not thrilled.

More Thank Yous

I received three blog awards recently (well a little longer than recently :) ).

Heat Like A Dog and Terrier Torrent both awarded us the Blog of the Year Award.  As you can see, they were for 2012.  I am a little behind.  Thank you, Thank you for this wonderful award!  It is always fun to discover new blogs so if you haven’t been to Heart Like A Dog or Terrier Torrent, stop by and check them out.  You won’t be disappointed!  Also, check out any of the blogs on my blogroll (which I need to update :) ).

Also, way back in the beginning of the January My GBGV Life gave is The Next Big Thing Award.

Thank you for this wonderful award Emma!  If you haven’t met Emma yet, stop on over to My GBBV Life and say “Hi!”.  Plus Emma has her very own store for those of you who need a shopping fix.  :)

Tomorrow I will have some Follow-up and will attempt to answer some of the questions about dog shows.  :)

Awards With Thanks

In the last month my fellow bloggers have been so kind as to award us several blog awards.  I have been lax at passing them on because Freighter has been taking up much of my blogging time.  I will admit that he has been curling up on my lap in the evenings which makes it very difficult to type.  :)

It also seems like many of you have had some of these awards a couple of times over so rather than pass them on again, I wanted to at least acknowledge the givers and recommend these blog because they are all worthy of a visit.  One of the best parts of receiving and passing on awards is to discover new blogs.  I am always adding newly discovered blogs to my Blogroll and maybe there are some you would like to discover too?  If you haven’t received one of these awards, feel free to take one and run with it.  :)

So now on to the awards and thank-yous.  First, Kootenai’s Climb awarded us the Pawsome Blogger award here.  If you haven’t checked Kootenai’s Climb out, you must because that doggie goes on some great adventures!  Right now Kootenai is sickie, so please stop over and offer some cheer.

I also received this award from a new reader The Charming Chi, here.  There are five Chihuahuas sharing that blog.  I look forward to getting to know them.  :)

Tanner from Tanner Trains the Family also passed this award on to us, here.  Tanner is a young Golden Retriever and I have a soft spot for Golden Retrievers.  Stop over for a visit and see what Tanner has been up to.

Pamela over at Something Wagging This Way Comes awarded us the You Are An Inspiration Award, here.  If you don’t know Pamela, do yourself a favor and go over and say “Hi”.  Her latest training project is to work on getting her dog Honey, another Golden, to decide that a ride in a doggie cart is fun and will lead to grand adventures.  This will of course allow us to tag along from time to time.  Pamela’s blog is very inspirational so I am honored that she passed this one on to me.

I also received the Hope Unites Globally Hug Award from Misty Shores Chesapeakes, here.  Misty Shore’s Chessie pack has expanded by two recently and the new additions sure are cute.  I hope to meet them in person soon.  In the mean time I enjoy reading about their antics on their blog.  You might like it too.  We also received the Hug Award from dogdaz, here.  Dogdaz claims to have a zoo.  I don’t know if it is really a zoo, but it sure is a lot of fun.  Go on over and say “hi”.  In the spirit of the award “hugs” to both Misty Shores and Dogdaz!

Great Dane Info gave us the One Lovely Blog Award, here.  Not one, but two lovely Great Danes grace that blog and there are some fabulous pictures too.  I am so honored that they included us in this award.

Thank you again for the wonderful awards.  I appreciate being included and am sorry that I can’t pass them on right now.  I guess I am sort of like Sunny playing with a stick.  ;)

But I Won't Share It With You

I hope I haven’t left any out.  If I have, I apologize.  :)   Basset Momma tagged me last week and I hope to have those answers up tomorrow.

An Award To Share!

Some time ago For The Love Of My Dogs was kind enough to award us the Versatile Blogger Award, here.  I feel badly that it took so long to acknowledge it and to get this post up.  Once again I plead puppies.  :)   (How long can I get away with that excuse?)

Freighter In The Snow

If you have not discovered For The Love Of My Dogs, you must stop by and give it a read.  While you are there, wish little Chelsea well because she just had FHO surgery and is recuperating.  :)

And now to the award…

The rules for the Versatile Blogger Award are as follows:
1. Thank the award giver and link back in your post.
2. Share 7 things about yourself.
3. Pass this award along to as many as 15 blogs you enjoy reading and let them know about the award!

7 things to share:

  1. Storm has always been a different sort of Chessie and a bit of a challenge to train.
  2. At age 4 1/2, Storm still chases her tail.  Yep it is true.
  3. She seems to do it as a delay tactic; say when it is time to come in from the yard and she wants to stay out a bit longer.
  4. We were so afraid, (in a this-is-going-to-be-embarrassing kind of way), that she would do it when she went off to the trainer and he pushed her to run marks or blinds past her comfort zone, (200 yards +).
  5. The trainer is a pro and worked on stretching her comfort zone so that she never did the tail-chasing thing. :)
  6. In training water blinds she would occasionally start to swim in circles when she was pushed past her comfort zone.
  7. Again, the trainer worked on stretching her comfort zone so that she now easily swims 200+ water blinds.

Good Girl Storm

I would like to pass the award on to some deserving blogs.  It is tough to choose because there are so many great ones out there, but never fear, I still have two awards to pass on.  ;)   These are some blogs I recently discovered and I would like to learn more about them.  If you haven’t already discovered them yet, they are well worth a read.

Thanks again to For The Love Of My Dogs for sharing this award with us.  As I said, I have a couple of more awards to share and I will try not to take three weeks to do it.  :)

Another Award

Thanks so much to Basset Momma for awarding us the Leibster Award, here.  What a nice way to ring in the New Year.  OK, so I am a bit behind on getting this post up.  I plead being sidetracked by those darn puppies.  :)

The award has very simple rules:

1. Copy and paste the award on our blog.
2. Link back to the blogger who gave us the award.
3. Pick our five favorite blogs, with less than 200 followers and leave a comment on their blog to let them know they have received the award.
4. Hope that the five blogs chosen will keep spreading the love and pass it on to five more blogs.

Liebster Award

Liebster means “dearest” in German.  I would like to pass the award on to some blogs that I really enjoy reading and I bet you will too.  Some may be pushing, or over, the less than 200 followers requirement, but just in case you haven’t discovered them yet, I want to include them.  :)

1.  Browndogcbr- Hawk has grand adventures in the mountains and at the shore, but the best part–he is another brown dawg!  Stop on over to see lots of wonderful pictures of his adventures.

2.  Just Ramblin’-A Newf and a Chessie and some beautiful photography mixed with a lot of inspirational posts.

3.  Snoopysdogblog-Snoopy is a lot of fun and a great mischief maker.  :)   Plus Snoopy holds a special place in our hearts because Snoopy and Thunder went through wearing the cone of shame at around the same time.  Poor Snoopy had just as hard a time with that darn cone as Thunder did.

4.  youdidwhatwithyourweiner- Who says a small dog is just a lap dog?  These two dachshunds are always on the go and we get to tag a long through the beautiful pictures.

5.  Murphy’s Bird Dog Blog- If you haven’t visited this blog and you enjoy watching bird dogs work, you are missing out.  Fabulous pictures and wonderful video of the dogs working.  The blog owner also is active in rescue and fosters dogs from time to time.

Congrats to all and thanks again to Basset Momma for this great award!  If you haven’t stopped by her blog, go on over and say “hi”.  She has two adorable basset hound’s and as you may remember, I am partial to hounds.  :)

Tomorrow’s post will be about last week’s training and Saturday I expect to post all about the puppy!  We are scheduled to pick him up after work tomorrow, (I know, Friday the 13th).  We will have the whole weekend to get to know him and introduce him to the 2 brown dawgs.  Of course we are getting him just in time for the snow to arrive!
