For the first time since Thunder’s surgery, we ran him on a short water blind. He isn’t technically released to swim yet, so we kept it short. To discourage a big water entry, he was sent from a spot close to the edge of the pond. We figured this would be a good time to see what kind of attitude he had on water blinds. He seemed super excited to get back into the water and swam in a nice straight line to pick up the bumpers. (We had placed 2 blinds for him.) He did not have any no-gos into the water and did not attempt to cheat the bank. (Both of these had been big issues for him when he was learning water blinds.) Even though it was a short blind, we were happy with how he handled it. As of Monday he will be free to train normally. It will still be hot next week, (but not as bad as this week, thank goodness), so my guess is that he will be spending a lot of his training time in the water.
