The puppies are 7 weeks old and will start going home at the end of the week. We lucked out with nice weather yesterday. We took each pup in the yard one by one to see what they would think of a duck. The pups loved the bird. Of course since they are pups, there was mischief. Some picked up the bird and took it in the opposite direction, others tried to eat it, and one boy took it over to where the big dogs were kenneled and paraded in front of them as if to say, “Look what I have!”.
It was nice and sunny, but there were some long shadows so I had a bit of trouble getting pictures.

They look so confident walking with the bird! They are getting so big, it must be almost time for yours to come home:)))
Yes it is almost time and then it will be really interesting. 🙂
i’m sooo impressed!…so young yet all are natural hunters…xoxox- Vanilla Bean
Thanks Vanilla Bean. 🙂
They look so cute and so damn proud! I can’t wait to read all about your new family member, have you picked him out yet?
Yes and he will be with us soon. 🙂
I can’t believe how they strut when they are walking! They sure are growing and looking so confident too! Nice pics. I love that first one!
Thanks Bassetmomma. 🙂
Looks like that bird’s neck saw a few mouths 🙂
Yep….after a few attempted eats it was a bit worse for the wear. But it is really good that the ones who got the bird later still picked it up despite the condition.
Good grief, I can’t believe how much they have grown. Too cute.
They are getting big, aren’t they?
Wow,
Those pups are looking all grown up already!! I bet you’re getting excited to get one, which one is joining your family?
Have a fun day,
Your pal Snoopy 🙂
Come back on Saturday and find out. 😉
Isn’t it amazing how genetics seem to run so strongly in these different breeds? These pups were born knowing what to do – get that duck! 😉
I LOVE these photos!!!!
It was really great to see. Many of them held the bird very nicely. 🙂
Looks like they are so happy to have a duck in their mouths!! How much fun!

are you starting to get close to the ‘i know which puppy we’re going to have joining us’ stage? Or leaving it up to the breeder to give their opinion of the most birdy dog?
It was a really difficult choice because they are all really nice.
Oh my goodness, these photos are so cute. The bird is almost as big as the pups! 🙂
Yes and it was a small duck. 🙂
They look like little naturals!!
It was really great to see them with a bird. 🙂
What confidence they all have. Looks like anyone of them would make a great hunting partner.
Blessings,
Goose
I think they will Goose.
Oh what fun. all the pups are so so birdy I am so happy with these lil’ ones
They really are great pups!
Ooooooh! I would probably try to eat it too! Or run around like crazy with it.. hehe..
Thanks for joining the hop!

Luna
I bet you could have fun with the puppies Luna. 🙂
Oh my, there is way too much cuteness in this post. 🙂 And that is amazing that the instinct is there from such a young age!!
Yes we were happy to see how they reacted to the duck.
Wow, those are some beautiful pups.
Thank you. 🙂
They grow up so fast. And yet they’re still so cuddly-looking. (But they better drop the dead duck before I cuddle them.)
They are very cuddly pups and for Chessies. 😉
Love it! They are such teases and hams when they get the bird, just have to show off to the big dogs 🙂
Well one was really into showing that bird off. Reminded me of his grandfather. 🙂
Thanks for visting and commenting on my blog! You all look like a lot of fun!
Lovies, Miss Mindy
