Dashing Off

Before we took him home we took pictures of all of the pups stacked.  His first set did not turn out and he was a bit squirmy the second time around, but we finally got a couple.

I hope tomorrow to have new pictures and a post about how we came up with his name.

  1. Congratulations on your new puppy. 🙂 Love the name ‘Freighter’. All the best for his training – will he do conformation as well as retrieving?

  2. So excited to see which puppy came home with you. Looking forward to watching Freighter grow up.

  3. Welcome sweet Freighter! We have all been waiting you to come home! Looking forward to meet you better! Hugs from Teje & Nero

  4. Hi!
That is one great looking little guy! We love seeing your pictures of your gorgeous babies. It is nice to see them doing the job they love to do. Looking forward to seeing more as he grows up.

    God Bless You!

    The Collies and Chuck 🙂

  5. I think I am in love!!! Congratulations on your boy! he is adorable!!!
and I love the name, can’t wait to hear the story behind it!

  6. Oh he’s beautiful! And I didn’t even come CLOSE with his name! I was banking on you sticking with the Storm/Thunder theme. I had Thor or Lightening on the list. :0

How did his first night go? And what did you do? Did he stay in crate in your room or what? Details, details…..:-)

    1. Great guesses. We thought about Lightening, but it was so many syllables and I am lazy. 🙂 Thor is a really good name, but maybe the “th” is too close to Th-under. I would would probably mix them up all of the time. 😆 But it is a good name to keep handy. 🙂

  7. Freighter! I love it! Is that because he barrelled throught the rest of the pack with the duck? LOL! I was actually up in the night last night and checked to see if you had posted yet because I was dying to see your pick! Good luck getting him settled in trained (potty trained) and ready for a wonderful life of retrieving with Thunder and Storm! And then there were three!

    1. Thanks Bassetmomma. I think I scheduled this post for the middle of the night….lol. I had done the post and Freighter’s page and the new header/background ahead of time and then just made them public before I went to bed.

  8. Freighter is adorable! What a great name, too! You must be thrilled! Can’t wait to see more pictures tomorrow!

  9. Good thing you put this post up – the suspense was killing me!! He is so cute, and he looks like Mr. Natural. Perfect!! Good luck with him. 🙂

    1. Thanks. I didn’t mean to keep everyone in suspense. 🙂 It is just that until he came home, I didn’t want to post about the exact pup just in case something changed last minute.

  10. Great name!! He is such a cutie- we are so happy for you! New puppies are so much fun 🙂 We are looking forward to watching Freighter grow up with your family!

  11. Congratulations!! He looks full of potential!!

How are Thunder and Storm adjusting to the addition??

    1. Freighter is snoozing in his crate and they are sacked out on the floor right now. They are getting used to having him here. We really can’t let them all play together yet because the puppy is only 13 pounds and Thunder and Storm are not really good at understanding how big they are. 🙂

  12. Congratulations, and a warm welcome to little Freighter! He’s a fine looking puppy with an exciting future ahead of him. Looking forward to watching his progress.
I love the look of your new page!

  13. So you got a boy??? I thought normally 2 boys can’t live in same pack? I know it also depends on how they are raised and how the people are as pack leaders so this is very interesting to me. He is a cutie, quite the tank he is but I am used to my lil Vizsla. Looking forward to hearing more about this one and watching as he grows. I know you will do great by him.

    1. Yes we got a boy and yes it is true two male Chessies can be trouble. But we choose this breeding and this particular puppy because we believe he will fit right in. At first we were going to get a girl, but Storm is so dominant, we decided that would be trouble. Thunder is very laid back and by the time this pup is 2, he will be 8 and neutered so there shouldn’t be any of that “king of the pack” stuff going on. So far Freighter seems happy to defer to the big dogs. And we have the ability to keep the dogs completely separate from one another should issues arise.
However the plan is too keep them so busy and on a schedule that there is no time for trouble. 🙂

  14. Puppy Love! Oh my pug, this doggie of yours is getting bigger and bigger by the day! FIRST BIRD? Awesome! I think it is so amazing that y’all are able to hunt birds and eat them. The pug in me can only go after already dead and baked duck treats. Anyways, the name Freighter is a great one for this guy! I look forward to the adventures of this pup!

  15. Welcome home Freighter and congrats to the 2 Brown Dawgs family on a beautiful choice! What a gorgeous puppy he is, and he certainly shows lots of natural retrieving instincts. I’m sure he’ll be a wonderful addition to your Chessie family. I’ll be interested to hear how Thunder and Storm react to their new “sibling”! 😀

  16. Oh, Freighter you are just adorable. We love all these pictures. Look what a beautiful stance you have. We are looking forward to watching you grow and learn. Hugs and nose kisses

  17. I’m from Michigan too (Evart)! Nice job on training the puppy and great website!

I found you from BigHoneyDog.com , but don’t have time to visit you often.
