The weather was nice yesterday morning so I was able to take a few more pictures of Freighter exploring the yard.  You pink collar scoffers 🙂 will be happy to see he has his new collar on.  Hopefully this collar will last a couple of months before it is too small for him.

Checking Out The Yard In My New Collar

What Is That Cold White Stuff On My Nose?

Wonder Where I Should Sniff Next?

This New Collar Itches Too

It has warmed up again.  The little snow we had has melted and it rained all night.  Our yard is a muddy mess which makes for muddy puppy paws.  🙂

Freighter is a real sweetie.  He loves to spend time with people.  He already loves to retrieve and will bring his toy right back, (which is something neither Thunder or Storm did at this age and we hope he continues to do).  He is also very smart, (which with a Chessie can be kind of scary ).  He is curious about the 2 big brown dawgs that live here, but hasn’t tried to be in their faces.

Thunder and Storm are getting use to having a puppy around.  They are curious, but aren’t really sure what to do with him because he is so small.  This weekend we hope to get the big dawgs back to training.  The sloppy weather has made it tough for them to get in some good running.

  1. Freighter really does sound like the baby of the house. Being so smart I’m sure he will be using this to his advantage! I had to laugh at the collar thing ’cause I thought maybe I was just seeing it wrong yesterday and it was really red! LOL! His new one is pretty cute. We have got puring rain here this morning. It rained all night so our snow is gone and like you we are left with even more mud! 🙁

  2. Is there anything cuter than dogs with snow on their noses? LOL I love these pics and I think Freighter’s new collar is very handsome – goes well with his coloring too! His retrieving instincts are strong right from the start – you’ve got a real winning puppy there! 🙂

  3. Hi Y’all,

I’m havin’ the same problem! I think y’all are sending the rain here. They are calling for it later this week, but first it’ll be the freezing rain which really makes it tough on a fella too big for pee pads.

Wow, do I want a little nice weather to get back out where I can stretch my legs!

My Human noticed that serious, business like look on Freighter in some of those pics. She said the same thing you said…SCARY!

Hey, look at the bright side…bet y’all have lots of GREAT Monday Mischief posts!

    Y’all come back now,
    Hawk aka BrownDog

P.S. What’s all this problem with a pink collar? My Human Papa has a pink shirt he wears with a burgundy tie and gray pin stripe suit. The new collar is really sharp though. Gotta talk to my Human. Time for a new one here!

  4. I love the collar, it looks beautiful against his fur. 🙂

When is the proper time to let all the dogs get together and begin co-habitating? I know I did it all wrong with Delilah and while I have NO thoughts about adding another dog to our pack, I’d still like to know how it’s done?

He really has the sweetest face.

  5. he is adorable! Glad to hear Thunder and Storm are adapting to their new live in playmate 🙂

  6. The new collar is very becoming! I’m also curious about how long you will keep Freighter independent from the older dogs. We spend so much time trying to give our dogs time away from each other, but I know we didn’t do that enough when our younger one was a puppy.

  7. He is gorgeous! Love the new collar. 🙂 He sounds like one smart lil guy and that may make him easier to teach. He is one fabulous lil guy and that he does what he does at his age is wonderful! Can;t wait to see more of him as he grows up!

    God Bless You Freighter!!!

    The Collies and Chuck 🙂

  8. Freighter, that’s a much more becoming collar for you. Don’t let them put another pink one on you. I hope you get some more snow. It’s so much fun to play in and eat.

  9. I really like your tongue in the third picture! You know I have a thing for tongues because I have a big one. I would love for you to submit any tongue pictures for my Sunday Tongue!

  10. I remember when our friends brought home their Bernese Mountain Dog puppy – Moses treated her like she was made of fine china. The first couple of weeks were complete caution and avoidance as if he didn’t want to accidentally break her or something. Though, that only lasted until she settled in, got a bit bigger, and became a forever wrestling buddy.
