We have been getting together the things Freighter needs to bring with him for his stay with the trainer: his food, cookies, and heart worm preventative for the first of the month. I think I have mentioned that he is a deluxe chewer. He will not be taking a bed or a blanket, but he will be taking his trusty elk antler chew and black kong bone. He has graduated from the large to the jumbo antler.
Normally he doesn’t get to take it outside, but I let him take it out so I could get a few pictures. These pictures are from about a month ago. 🙂
Hopefully it will keep him busy during his downtime. He’ll see a familiar face there because his sis Sunny is going for training too. When we drop Freighter off, we plan to join the group for some training for Thunder and Storm. Finally our weather is a bit cooler and it is supposed to be a nice day tomorrow.
Have a nice weekend!
Bye Freighter! Have a wonderful time during your training! 🙂
Say it isn’t so!!! How long will Freighter be gone?
It does look like he enjoys that antler, I am going to have to see about getting an extra large one for Delilah, she would really love it.
Have fun training and send some of that cooler weather this way! 🙂
At least a month, but now I am hearing 6 weeks. I guess it depends on how he does.
I sure will miss him, and I know you will, too. I hope the time passes quickly!
Looks like Freighter is all set to go! How long will he be with the trainer for?
At least a month, but now I am hearing 6 weeks.
Have a great weekend too! He is really enjoying his bone thingy! I am sure he’ll miss you!
My dogs love the antlers and they keep them busy. Good luck at the trainers, have lots of fun.
I’ve heard of dogs really really liking antlers, but haven’t tried one for Elka yet. Have you tried any of those Himalayan chews? I haven’t either.
It’s funny, having to think about what your dog will chew recreationally, and how long it will last! Something I never considered before Elka came home.
I have not tried Himalayan chews. I am hoping Freighter will out grow the chewing…maybe.
OH!! Our baby is growing up!!
Wishing you all the best sweet Freighter we are going to miss you. Will look forward to seeing you when you come home. Hugs and nose kisses
Oh, I bet you’ll miss Freighter while he’s at the trainers. Heck, I’ll miss him! That is one jumbo antler he chews. I bought Fred and Gloria antlers about 2 months ago and they never bother with them, then since I’ve been sick all of a sudden Fred has decided to finally chew it! Thank goodness ’cause it’s kept him busy for me. 🙂
Good luck, Freighter! Enjoy that GIANT antler. I think it might be bigger than me!
Your pal, Pip
Wow! Antlers to chew on!? That is very cool! Looking so grown up from the very first Nylabone you won when you guessed the snowfall,Freighter!
He seems to love the new larger bone! Glad his sis is going to be there too – how cool is that? Have fun Freighter!
Our dogs love the antlers too, and kongs and … 🙂 All the best to Freighter as he starts a new chapter and adventure in his life!!
Have a great time big guy!

Keep us updated on how Freighter’s doing in his retriever boot camp.
Hey Freighter,
I don’t need to ask if your Antler is yummy, hey?
We will miss you buddy – see you soon 🙂
Your pal Snoopy 🙂
I just can’t get over how big and handsome Freighter is becoming. It seems like such a short time to me as a reader.
