This ‘N That Thursday is for those times when you want to post about unrelated topics or each topic isn’t quite long enough to make up a whole post. It can be anything you want, so feel free to grab the button and join us!
The hunt test last weekend was in Indiana which meant that we had to stay a few nights in a hotel. Usually when we travel for tests we pick the closest hotel that is reasonably priced and allows pets in the room. Often the club putting on the test will contact hotels in the area and find out if they allow pets. Sometimes the hotel will relax their policies and allow dogs, including larger dogs, when normally they would not. They are welcoming, but I would not say they are exactly “pet friendly”.
Last weekend we stayed at a hotel that was very pet friendly. They did not have a ton of space to air the dogs, but they provided waste-bags and a nice large trash can. Many times we are hard pressed to find an outside garbage can and have to hunt around for the hotel’s dumpster. This hotel had no problem with us having three dogs in the room. While they did charge a pet fee, it was a one time fee of $25.00 rather then a per dog or per night fee. I have no problem paying extra for my dogs because I realize there might be extra cleaning required. They don’t stop shedding just because we are at a hotel. 🙂 In the room, there was a little surprise for the dogs.
We got Freighter back from the trainer on Friday so the reunion with Thunder and Storm had to take place in the hotel room. It wasn’t exactly what I would have picked because it was such a small space, but they all got along fine. It may even have been better because it was on neutral territory. Now that we are home it is like Freighter was never gone. He is right back into the routine he had before he left.
This is a picture of Freighter in the hotel room. I always bring blankets to spread on the floor and Freighter’s first duty was to mess them all up just before I got this picture. 🙂
Last year at the hunt test we ran into Jack and I asked him if he was a bear. He showed up again this year.
Tomorrow Thunder’s test.
So nice to hear of a hotel going out of it’s way to make your dogs feel so special. Fantastic! Oh Freighter – there your Mom was, trying to show us what a good doggy mom she is and you mess everything up 🙂
I love to hear about hotels that take this extra step! Once when we traveled with Sampson we stayed at a LaQuinta in North Carolina, they put us on the 5th floor that was being remodeled. What a pain it was to take him out! On the return trip we stayed in a hotel that put us on the first floor, which was easier, but we were still a ways away from the door.
I hope more places learn the real art of being pet friendly. 🙂
LOL – I guess Jack got tired of being mistaken for a bear! How wonderful that Freighter is back with the gang, and he looks so happy to be back with his family. We’ve only taken Daisy to one pet-friendly hotel, but they didn’t have any treats in the room for her! Next time we’ll try a Best Western!
Wow! Look at your friend Jack!! That hotel seems very pet friendly. I like the treat box!
LInda you do such a nice job with your blog….you make me want one! Jack was such a nice dog and friendly.
Wow! What an awesome hotel! How great that they were so accommodating. I’m glad to hear the dogs are getting along with Freighter being home and have settled back into their old routine. That must be a load off your mind. Love the tongue pic.:)
That picture of Freighter is just amazing! What a smile!
That sure was nice of the hotel! We had some really nice pet friendly hotels on our vacation! Sure made life easier!
I love the goofy expression on Freighter’s face!
I have a feeling Jack might actually be a Bear – he looks very cuddly!! 🙂
That hotel sounds great – it makes such a difference when the whole family feels welcome! 🙂
Hope you’re having a fun day 🙂
Your pal Snoopy 🙂
The Buddy Meals are such a cute addition. It’s nice to know they really welcome pets, it’s not just something they advertise 🙂
Wow that was a nice hotel for leaving goodies. I love staying at hotels with the dogs, always and adventure 🙂
Hi Jack the Newfie!
When we stayed a hotel in January at the Detroit show we were on the 9th floor, it was kind of pain to keep putting Leroy in the elevator because he was so nervous, and then have to make a very long walk through the lobby, and down the road to a grassy area. We lined the room with towels too, after he would drink he would leave a trail of dribbles!
The Buddy meal was a very nice was for them to welcome pets. Mica used to love staying in hotels while she was showing and going outside had great new smells and things to see. It very nice when the hotel makes you feel welcome. And yes Freighter you did a terrific job with the blankets 😉
The welcome bag for the dogs is a wonderful idea! Great photos!
