Last week we took a rare day off work and got out in the middle of the afternoon to do some training with Freighter.  It was nice to be in a park that was mostly empty.  We did not have to worry about sharing the space so we were able to spread out.

We are working on a few things with Freighter.  We are stretching out his marks to 100-150 yards, doing simple doubles, and working on handling basics.  These are in addition to working on him being steady, coming to heel and giving up his bumpers/birds.

He is doing very well with his training and having fun.  His marking is very nice, even at a distance, and he seems to be getting the hang of watching and remembering two marks.  He has a bit to go on his handling, but we have the winter to work on that.

It was a bright sunny day which made it tough to be in a good position for pictures, but I did get a few.

  2. I love days like that. Unexpected pleasure in the middle of the week. 🙂 Looks like you had fun. I think you will have a great dog come next season.

  3. Great pictures and Freighter looks like he’s having a great time. Being able to get out without a lot of people and work on things at your own pace makes a really great day:)
