Storm came home on Sunday.  The first thing she did was look all around the house for her puppies.  She looked in every nook and cranny.  Apparently you never know where puppies might be hiding.  🙂

Once she figured out that her pups weren’t here, the next most important thing was to check out her yard.

Storm will start back to light hunt test training.  She is out of condition and her milk is not yet all dried up so we will not run her in high cover or swim her.  We do not want any stimulation to make more milk because we would like to get her nice tuck up back as much as possible.  Friday I wrote about coats.  She is really blowing hers.  In fact she has bald in spots with no fur at all.  This is normal after pups and will probably get worse.  She won’t win any beauty pageants any time soon.  🙂

Welcome home Storm!

  1. Aw, I bet you are thrilled beyond belief to have her home at last! Sure she’ll win the blogger world beauty pageant – I think we’ve all really missed her a bunch! I nominate you for Queen of the Blogger World Beauty Pageant of Mommas 🙂 ! So happy to see you home again!! Hugs!

  2. Welcome home Storm. Glad you checked out your pad to make sure everything is in order. Have a terrific Tuesday.
    Best wishes Molly

  3. She still has a decent tuck up, unlike my friend’s dog who looked like she needed a bra. It hurt to watch her run!

  4. Glad you got your girl back home. She looks great despite the bald spots. I think she looks like she dried up nicely already. She is one happy girl. Enjoy your time with her!

  5. That is nice that she is back home but I am sure she misses the pups which will fade quickly. I doubt she cares how she looks, having and caring for all those pups was most likely exhausting, so I am sure she is excited to get back to training but also to get back to her old routine.

  6. Hi Y’all!

    You are beautiful Storm!

    Y’all come back now,
    Hawk aka BrownDog

  7. There’s no place like home. Good to see you home.

  8. Cute she most certainly still is and you must be delighted to have her back home with you. I can’t help feeling sorry for her, though, looking around desperately for her pups.

  9. It’s always great to sleep in your own bed again after being away…hope she enjoyed hers! 🙂

  10. Glad you’re home. It’s sad to see you looking for your pups. Too bad we don’t have a way to communicate to you that they are in good hands.

  11. Definitely still a pretty lady, Storm! They always look a little rough after the puppies are out and about 🙂 My girl is blowing her coat hard right now. Everywhere I look, there’s long black hairs clinging to every imaginable surface lol. Glad that she’s back home to spend some time with you all! I’m sure she’s happy to be back 🙂

  12. Welcome home, Storm! She looks great after just having a litter.

  13. Aw, poor Storm, looking for her puppies. I know it’s just a part of it, but that makes me sad!

She does look good, with just that little bit of “baby belly” left! I think she’s beautiful, anyway 😉

  14. Does she not miss her pups? Do they have separation anxiety? I empathise with her blowing her coat – I lost so much hair after I had Bubba!!

  15. Hey Storm,

I always think you’re beautiful buddy!

    Big wags,

    Your pal Snoopy 🙂

  16. I bet she was so happy to be home and you were too. First check for puppies, good Mother, then make sure you didn’t change anything while she was away. Welcome home Storm 🙂

  17. Oh my how time flies. It feels like the puppies were just born yesterday, and already they have been weaned. 🙂 How great to have Storm home. I just read the other post about Freighter too…so I guess the gangs all together again. How nice for all of you. 🙂

  18. I was always told that if you wrap, the pressure help stop the milking. I know that’s what they did in the show world when I was young, but that was a while ago and I don’t know if this is still done. You might want to look it up? But she looks great, very healthy, bald spots and all! I bet she is glad to be home! 🙂

    1. I have not heard about wrapping. What they did was withhold food and limit water for 24 hours and slowly re introduce. I suppose wrapping has the same idea, no stimulation to the area. We could not train her wrapped though. She is coming along pretty well and getting her tuck back. Just a matter of patience I guess.
