When you have a dog like Storm, it often turns into a battle of wills. Sometimes you win and sometimes Storm wins.
Case in point last Tuesday after Storm’s surgery. We set her up in the den so that she could have a place to herself away from the other dogs. We made it nice for her and put her bed and a bowl of water in there. She even had a small meal in the room.
We used a board to block off the room rather than close the doors.
The only problem was that Storm wanted no part of spending the night in there.
In fact she whined and cried for a good part of the night. We tried to ignore her. At some point Storm quieted down and we were able to get some sleep.
It wasn’t until the next morning that we figured out why she quieted down. She was so determined to sleep up stairs with us that she slid the board aside so she could escape. We found her sleeping outside the bedroom door in the morning.
Score one for Storm…
Thanks to Alfie’s Blog, Snoopy’s Dog Blog and My Brown Newfies for hosting the Monday Mischief blog hop.
A dog’s love and devotion, just keeps going on no matter how they feel.Storm chose to be near you because he knew that was where the love was and he wanted to share it with you.
Oh Storm, you are a dog after my own heart. I’m glad you found your place to rest.
Now that is determination. Hope storm heals fast.
Oh Storm you sweet baby!! I am so sorry I didn’t know about your surgery!! I feel awful! I returned from BarkWorld super sick and was sick all of last week, I didn’t get around to that many blogs because I felt so bad. Hoping Storm is feeling much better. That was “loving mischief” the BEST kind!
Don’t feel bad. It was just her spay which we were planning to do but we weren’t sure when. The timing worked for last week and the vet fit us in so we could get her done before her next season. In the end, it was kind of last minute. 🙂
Hope you are feeling better!
She’s a strong-minded woman and will find a way to get what she wants 🙂
Sherman does the same things when we try to block a room of the house off. I think he just likes to knock the barrier over to prove a point.
Storm you know how to get your way LOL. Have a marvellous Monday and a great Labour Day.
Best wishes Molly
I hope Storm is fully recovered.
Well, she tried to tell you, and when you wouldn’t listen, she fixed things herself. 🙂 LOL! Smart girl.
Humans are never a match for a determined dog even when we have their best interests in mind.
Way to go Storm, she wanted to be by you guys. Hope her recovery is coming along nicely, only a few more days left.
She knew what she needed and that was to be near you. Sweet.
Where there’s a will, there’s a way! She just wanted to be with you…she didn’t feel 100% and wanted her humans for comfort. How sweet!
So, so sweet!
She’s a bright pup. 🙂 Beauty, brains, skills – what more could a dog ask for?
BOL – good one Storm! Shiner is also a stubborn dog.
It’s not possible to be mad at them, when they are so smart and so sweet! I think that’s the most difficult part with surgeries….they just don’t understand that you are doing things differently for their own good!
Love it when the dogs outsmart the humans! Humans just think they make the rules. 😉
Hi Y’all!
Storm, my Human says you and Candy (now an Angel) must be related…or maybe it’s a girl thing? My Human says no. So maybe it’s a Chessie thing. BOL!
Hope you heal as quickly and easily as my Human remembers Candy healing.
Y’all come by now,
Hawk aka BrownDog
Storm knows her mind. She probably just wanted to be close to you 🙂
Awwww Storm 😀 such a sweetheart. Wasn’t groggy enough to not know where she preferred!
Roooo Storm – I would have done exactly the same thing! *Waggy tail*

😀 Sounds like mischief to me.
They are persistent aren’t they? and creatures of habit too:)
Poor Storm… she didn’t want any alone time!
Haha Storm,
No-one’s gonna stop you, hey?
Sweet dreams,
Your pal Snoopy 🙂
I’m so, so far behind in getting around to my fave blogs and commenting.
Poor Storm. You thought she might get more peace for recovery in her own space, but her peace comes from being close to her people. Sweet girl, she wrangled her way out of there to be with her family.
Hope she’s feeling much better from her surgery!
That’s devotion and determination.
