The last day of December is traditionally the time to make resolutions for the next year.

Some people make resolutions about their finances.  Some people make resolutions about their jobs.  Some people make resolutions about their time management.  Some people make resolutions about their health.

The list can be quite long.

For 2014, we-

Thunder and Storm wrote down their resolutions.

They are both fit and in shape and would like to stay that way even as they grow older.

Thunder had an active hunting season this year and that is because he exercises all year long.  We hope he will have many more hunting seasons.

Storm was spayed at the end of last summer and it has been a bit of a battle keeping her weight in check.  She will turn 7 next June so it is important to keep her weight under control.

Freighter also wrote out his resolution, but it is a bit different.

He is a bundle of energy and sometimes needs to slow down, (and remember his obedience).  At two years old, his problem is maintaining his weight.  But as he ages, eventually that will change and he will have to watch his food intake.  Keeping him fit and in shape will help him for all of his life.

Here’s to an active and healthy 2014!

Thanks so much to SlimDoggy and Keep the Tail Wagging for the hop!

  1. Wishing you and your family a Happy & Prosperous New Year. We sincerely hope it is a successful one too for the brown dogs. Have a terrific Tuesday.
    Best wishes Molly

  2. They are so beautiful! Enjoy your blog! Tristan and I are entered in our first field trial this weekend…very excited! Do you feed any differently on field trial/work days? I’m considering feeding more at night and less in the morning on work days…would love to here what you think. Thanks

    1. Good luck with your field trial. Can’t wait to read about it! We feed a normal meal the morning of tests (we hunt test rather than trial). We are very early risers so by the time the dogs run, they are able to digest their food and particularly with Master level tests it can be quite late in the day before the dogs take their turn. The dogs need the energy to carry them through the day. But I know people who wait until later for a full meal so it is a matter of preference.

  3. Wait, is there seriously a difference between sit and run? I get stay and run confused too, so you are now alone! Thankfully we haven’t have issues with our girlish figures and we are all spayed. I’m sure Storm will get her workout routine down 🙂 Happy New Year!

  4. Great resolutions guys – especially Freighter’s! It’s a good think you don’t live close to Gambler, I think the two of your would create chaos together 🙂
Thanks for joining the Hop – going to add your photos to our albums!

  5. You have learned so many things , that is very good :D, Happy New Year 2014, hope this year brings all the best things to you and your family 🙂

  6. I’m at work right now and I’m NOT supposed to be commenting on blogs and that last picture (sit v run) almost blew it for me. I did the silent LOL at my desk; glad no one was walking by, because I know I looked strange.

Thanks for joining. This is great. So being spayed makes our dogs gain weight? Sydney was spayed at 6 months, so I wouldn’t know. Is this the same for boy dogs?

  7. Freighter’s resolution made me laugh. Delilah and he will be in the same class. She needs to learn the difference between STAY and let’s move around.

Thankfully the raw diet and regular exercise has helped her stay fit.

    Good resolutions all around.

  8. LOVE those resolutions. I know all three of you can do it. Now that you’re two, Freighter, learning the difference between sit and run will be much easier. Happy New Year to the 3 best brown dawgs EVER! 🙂

  9. Those are great goals.

Silas has the other problem–he gets “stuck” in his sit, unless something phenomenally interesting is going on.

  10. Great resolutions! I am betting they will all do very well at keeping those, even though we all know it’s more difficult to keep that weight off when we get older. It will be fun to see how Freighter does with his….there is sure a lot of energy in a 2 year old!
