There is an old proverb: “March comes in like a lion, and goes out like a lamb.”  It certainly came in like a lion yesterday.

We have had a typical El Nino winter with temperatures warmer than normal compared to last winter when it seemed like winter would never end.

However yesterday, after scraping a coating of ice off my windshield and driving home from work as it alternated between sleet and driving snow with wind, it did not seem much like an El Nino year.  Didn’t that pesky groundhog say that we would have an early Spring?  I think we ended up with about 4 or so inches of snow which is not as bad as some other areas of the state.

Of course dogs will never turn down some good snow and I have to say it beats having a yard full of mud.

Will March go out like a lamb?  Time will tell!

  1. Glad the dogs were able to enjoy that snow. Actually, we would rather have snow than ice. Glad the dogs had some fun.

  2. Snow DEFINITELY beats a yard full of mud! Every day of the week! In the winter down here I pray for sun and icy temps in the morning to dry out the mud from the previous night’s rain.

  3. We got another foot of snow last night. Let’s hope this winter is almost done (it is going to be about 4 F tomorrow morning too!)

  4. We are so fed up with the dismal winter this year, snow doesn’t even matter anymore at this point. Hopefully El Nino will move far away and we can have a good winter next year.

  5. We had the opposite – March came in like a lamb. We haven’t had our usual El Nino winter – we did for a bit with some crazy rain, but then it stopped and got really hot again. Hoping we’ll get a bit more rain this month. We need it!

  6. I sure hope it goes out like a lamb. I’m tired of it. Not the cold, but the up and down thing. It’s cold, then it’s 55 degrees, then we get snow, it melts. Repeat, repeat, repeat. I would like it to choose and stick with it. 🙂

  7. They sure look like they’re enjoying that snow! We would not mind if March went out like a lamb. 🙂

  8. Muds? Erynn thinks it is yard digging time! At least with some snow on the ground she could track critters around the yard, a distraction from excavations! Macha misses being able to roll and wiggle across the snow. Hopefully the warm-up will be quick and the green will appear! Snowdrops already in bloom, next crocus!

  9. Gosh, I hope so! I’m getting tired of this roller coaster winter! I had just barely bragged on the blog about our yard being ice free, when what was probably your same storm rolled in – snow, then sleet and freezing rain, then rain, then the temperatures plunged leaving behind an icy mess! It is SO cold and windy today, but hopefully just a couple days of this before it warms up again. That groundhog better be right this time. 🙂
