The brown dawgs hate to be inside.  When we have work to do outside, that is where they want to be too, helping with Fall chores.

We had some nice warm weather up at our cabin last weekend.  It was probably the last warm weekend for the year so we decided to take advantage of it.  You may remember that the weekend before we had burned a bunch of pine needles.  Freighter helped with that chore.

This weekend we needed to finish up that job by taking the remnants of the burned pine needles and spreading them around the pine trees to nourish the sand soil and I guess make more pine needles.  🙂

But seriously, we had put the leftovers from the burned needles in our fire pit and put water on them to make sure they were not smoldering and we needed to clean the fire pit out if we wanted to have any campfires over the winter.

Thunder and Storm supervised the progress.

Thunder And Storm Supervising

Storm gets easily bored and tends to wander off to sniff, but Thunder will stay right with you watching every single move you make.

Thunder Is Wondering If We Are Doing It Right

I shoveled the burned needles into our garden cart and hubby hooked it up to our quad so he could drive to the various spots in our yard where we wanted to spread the needles.  Storm’s idea of helping was following behind the cart.  Thunder was watching her wondering why she would give up a prime supervising spot.

This chore took a lot less time than burning the needles and it looked nice when we were done.

When we finished, Thunder wanted to be make sure all of his furs were in order.

Thanks to Thunder and Storm for helping with Fall chores. I guess now we are ready for Winter!

  1. how cute how she followed you :o) Easy is deep impressed that Thunder likes such a giant hair dryer :o)

  2. I love it. I’m not sure my crew would go for the leaf blower though! Nothing upsets the dogs more than if we’re outside and they’re inside. The other way around is OK, but if we’re out there they want to be with us helping with whatever we’re doing, or at least keeping an eye on us from their yard.

  3. what a great couple of helpers you got there. Lots of hard work! looks great.

  4. I need to borrow them! Barley hates yard work. When I take her out in the yard, she’ll pout and whine until she can go back in. Then I pout and whine because I don’t have any company. How do the brown dawgs feel about raking leaves?
