There is something lacking around here…and it starts with the letter “S”. That’s right. It’s snow!
The brown dawgs love snow. They love to romp around in it and to bury their toys in in. They love the cold goodness of it.
However, today they are all down in the dumps because of a lack of it. You see they have been watching their pals to the east, to the west, to the north and even to the south playing in nice fluffy snow. OK in some places it was wet heavy snow, but snow none the less. There has been snow all around, but none for them.
Over the weekend, the weather guy said there might be snow. That was all the brown dawgs needed to hear. They were all excited. They were ready.
Thunder went out every five minutes looking for it.
But Thunder could not find a flake.
Storm took a different approach. She tried to sniff out the snow.
Again nothing.
In the end, all we got was some cold rain. Cold rain which made plenty of mud. While it is true that dawgs can play in mud, it is discouraged around here because they tend to bring it in the house with them. Snow is a much cleaner alternative.
The brown dawgs sure hope they will see snow by Christmas. Or maybe they are on Santa’s naughty list? What do you think?
Farewell To A Friend
On a personal note, the brown dawgs wanted to say goodbye to one of their blogging pals. Last week we learned that our long time friend Easy Weimaraner passed away due to complications of bloat. We have known Easy for such a long time. He was one of the ever shrinking group of us that write personal blogs about our pups’ day to day lives. Easy lived in Brittany France and through him we got a glimpse of life in a far away place…Easy style. Many a morning we opened our computer to read and laugh about the goings on at Easy’s house. We are going to miss that. I know his people are heartbroken, and so are we.
Farewell friend…until we meet again.
Oh I’m sure there will be snow in your area… and you will race through the snow like a thunder or a storm :o) thanks for mentioning our boy… we are heartbroken and we wait for the urn now… to have him here is a step forward to accept and to handle our grief…
No snow here, either. And it’s too bad because Phoebe LOVES it. She refuses to go outside in the rain, but a snow sends her running to go out.
We’ve had a few inches twice now but it is all gone again. Hopefully from today on it will stay cold and snow will stick.
You can have my snow but guilty would object. I miss easy!!
Test comment
Do you have snow yet? We had snow fall, but nothing stuck. We’re supposed to have snow tomorrow. I figured you’d have it before we did – that’s how it seemed to work in the past.
My condolences to your friend and their family. The loss of a dog never gets easier.
We were saddened to hear of Easy’s passing too.
And we are also waiting for snow. There has been some teasing by our weather forecasters saying we were having snow, but so far they haven’t delivered. Today on our walk I saw a tick on Sampson. Really? It’s December, I want snow!
Barley is sad that we haven’t had snow yet, either! We had a few flakes in the air last weekend, but then it turned to a wintry mix and we got gross and wet and sad on our walk. We’re supposed to get 6-10 inches of lake effect snow starting tomorrow, so I’m hoping that when Barley wakes up on her birthday on Friday she sees a wonderful surprise in the yard!
What a beautiful tribute to Easy. We are sure missing the crazy shenanigans around his house, but are glad his parents are still around leaving comments. We don’t want to lose them completely.
After I read your title and saw the first photo, I knew what you were missing! Rain is just a waste in the winter – useless! We had some snow, then it melted, but we’ve had two small storms this week so have some on the ground again. I think the snow is what really has Cricket out wanting to play more. They are predicting a possible big storm this weekend, I hope that might be coming from your direction!
We never has snow and I think I would like it :/
Such a nice goodbye to Easy. He will definitely be missed 🙁
xoxo,
Matt (& Matilda)
