If you are a regular reader of the blog, then you know the brown dawgs love snow.  They were so excited when we got to our cabin on Christmas day and there was a ton of snow.

Storm Is Ready For Christmas Day Fun In The Snow

The humans got busy with outside chores.  Hubby was clearing the snow and I was filling the bird feeders.  Meanwhile, the brown dawgs were having a blast playing in the snow.

They love to run around the cabin.  Thunder and Storm must have run around it like 87 times.  Good exercise for senior dogs.

Finally they stopped for a bit of a rest.

Thunder stopped for a moment too.

By the time we finished our chores, we were burning daylight and rain, yes that is right rain, was moving in so we needed a quick way to tire out Freighter.  That dog loves to retrieve and since we did not have any training bumpers handy, snowballs will do the trick.

It rained all night long and much of the snow melted. The sun came out the next day and we saw four grouse (sometimes referred to a partridge), sunning themselves next to the road on our way home.

We stopped and watched them for a bit until they flushed.  We see them every once and a while in this area when there is snow, but we have not really come across them in this area when hunting.

Hope you had a nice Christmas day.

  1. We got the rain on Christmas Day too. It was really sad as we had such nice snow. Now we have ice and crusty snow. Hoping for fresh snow soon.

  2. Running in the snow is some of the best exercise! Our girls have been really tired out all week. We hate it when we get rain, and it ruins our beautiful soft snow though. We lost a lot of it, but then we got another 6 inches yesterday – yay! Hubby and I went out in the woods on our snowshoes today to pack down some trails for taking the dogs out there. There is still a lot of snow in the woods – and we saw tons of deer tracks too.

    1. We had 5 deer come into our feeder last weekend. We put a trail cam out. If it works, it will be interesting to see the pictures.

  3. SNOWS!! WE want to do that!! Maybe this year. Freighter, I think they were so MEAN to throw fake balls to you. I’m kinda hyper and like to DO something productive. That would frustrate me!!

    1. LOL Freighter tried to fetch the snowballs. Sometimes he even succeeds.

  4. The grouse are beautiful!! Of course hiding during hunting season.
