Right around Thanksgiving my pal Jodi from Heart Like A Dog gave us the Leibster Award.  I am a bit lot late in posting about it.  Hopefully Jodi will forgive me.

Do you know Jodi?  Jodi writes one of my “must read” blogs.  Jodi shares pictures and stories of her pups Sampson and Delilah. I feel like I know these two doggies through the stories Jodi shares.

Back to the award…Leibster means dearest in German, or so I am told.  The rules of this award are that person accepting it must answer 10 questions posed by the person bestowing the award.

Here are the questions that Jodi posed:

1.  How long have you been blogging?

My first post was February 25, 2009.

2.  Have your reasons for blogging changed since you first started blogging?

When I first started the blog it was to update family and friends about what the dogs were doing.  I still blog about what they are doing, but I don’t wait for something grand to happen before I post.

3.  Is your blog for fun or are you looking for something more?  If the latter what?

I blog for fun but I also like to inform about the purpose and importance of the purebred working retriever.

4.  How do you judge how well your blogging is going?

If I can write 5 posts a week with content that I am satisfied with, then I feel like I am doing well.

5.  What do you like to do when you aren’t blogging?

I like to read, help train the dogs and take photos.

6.  If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

I would love to live in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.  It is so pretty there.

7.  If you could talk to any one person, living or dead, who would it be?

Ronald Regan

8.  What is your favorite meal?

This is a tough one.  I am not sure I have one favorite.  If I had to pick maybe grilled wild Alaskan salmon.  The best I ever ate was out of the Copper River when we were in Alaska.  It was caught in the morning and we had it at dinner.  Every once in a great while the fish market here will get some in and then I splurge.  It is not as good as the fresh caught, but pretty yummy.

9.  How do you define success in your life?

Another tough one.  I guess I am still trying to figure it out.

Storm's CGC
Storm’s CGC

10.  What accomplishment are you most proud of?

Getting the Canine Good Citizen certification (title) on Storm.  She was a challenge as a young dog.  She will train for hunt tests all day long but she absolutely hates the obedience class environment.

CGC required her to be brushed by the evaluator.  Storm was not thrilled at letting a stranger brush her.  I took her to work on several occasions and made asked co-workers to brush her to get ready for the test.  As a young dog Storm was not a fan of the vacuum cleaner and they used that for a distraction during our test.  There was so much of that test that Storm did not care for.  One day soon I plan to write a post on young Storm.  She was a trip.

We practiced and practiced for the test.  I was pretty nervous going into it, but she passed with flying colors.  All 10 elements were perfect, even the brushing.  I was super proud of both of us.

Thanks again to Jodi for sharing this award with us.  I am sorry I was so late posting about it.  To make up for taking so long to acknowledge the award, I am sharing a video of Storm for Jodi (but anyone can watch).  Storm is eating some banana chips that my sis gave the dogs for Christmas.  The other dogs like them, but Storm loves these things.  The way she wrinkles up her nose when she eats them cracks me up.

One last piece of business for today.  The winner of the give-away for the $50 Amazon Gift Card is Amanda S.

Congrats To Amanda S!

  1. I really like Jodi’s blog, too! I would love to read a post about young Storm!!! 😀 She is so cute!! Tons of personality there!!

  2. Good job on the award. Bailie had a real tough time avoiding people on her CGC test. She loves people and a crowd, so to ignore them was tough, but everyone makes it eventually. Some dogs are just easier than others.

  3. Congrats to your award, that was super interesting to read. I like grilled salmon too, wish I had one now :o)
Congrats to the winner Amanda S!

  4. Congrats on the award, I enjoyed reading your answers. Wild caught organic Scottish salmon is one of my favorites, especially from one small family-owned market where they’re very particular about the products they sell and their Scottish salmon has a buttery quality to it. [Now I’ll have to run out and get some today…] But to have salmon fresh out of the water would be incredible.

  5. Hi Y’all!

Did Storm like to leap up and over your shoulder, taking your ear lobe with her? I bet they all tried it!

    Congratulations on the Award.

    Y’all come on back,
    Hawk aka BrownDog

  6. I love Jodi’s blog, too! I got the Liebster award at the same time as Jodi; but with all the insanity around here, I haven’t been able to write my post/pass it on. I’ve been meaning to for a long time, but you know what they say.

    1. I’m so far behind with reading my favorite blogs that I might not ever catch up. Congrats on getting the award — you deserve it!! (And I’m sure Jodi will forgive you.)

  7. Congratulations on the Leibster. I loved reading your answers, especially about Storm and her CGC. That’s still on the bucket list for Miss Harper Lee . . . if she can just get her human in gear! Can’t wait to read about young Storm one day. It’s hard to believe that she was a challenge.

  8. No need to apologize Linda and no need to make it up to me, but you know I love me some Storm! She’s a dog after my own heart and reminds me so much of Delilah at times. I love watching Delilah eat a carrot, she wrinkles up her nose too. I’ll have to get a video of that and share it with you.

So you actually want to live somewhere cold? Most people I know are saying warmer, especially this time of year. 🙂

    Thanks for answering my questions.

  9. Congrats on the award, and I enjoyed your answers. The video of Storm was great too….she is so cute when she wrinkles up her nose like that! I don’t think I’ve ever given the dogs banana chips, but I bet they’d love them, especially Luke.

  10. I really enjoyed reading this and the video was so cute of Storm enjoying those banana chips. Love that little wrinkled nose. Congratulations on the award! Hugs
