It was wonderful having Glory and JoAnn from Sand Spring Chesapeakes stay with us for a few days while Glory was bred to Thunder.

The breeding went well and now we just have to keep our fingers crossed for pups.

While Glory and JoAnn were here, we tried to find some dog-friendly things to do.  The weather was not the greatest.  First it was hot and muggy.  Then some storms blew through and it turned windy, rainy and cold!

One day we went to a local park.  Another day we headed out to the Mall At Partridge Creek.  It was a warm day but at least it wasn’t raining.  This mall is an open-air mall so the weather can make or break the experience.  The big plus about this mall is that it is dog friendly.  Most of the shops allow the dogs to come inside to shop with their owners.  You can tell which shops welcome dogs because they have a sign in their window which indicates dogs are welcome.

First stop was the Three Dog Bakery.

It was fun to check out the special doggie pastries at the bakery.  I can’t be sure, but I think maybe a couple were purchased for Storm’s birthday celebration next month.

This mall has a wide variety of shops including a Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory which thankfully we resisted.

Because so many of the shops are dog friendly, most give out dog biscuits, much to Glory’s great delight.  Many also put out large bowls full of water for the dogs to wet their whistles.

We had great fun wandering around and Glory was so sweet to everyone who wanted to pet her.

While she was here, Glory also got to meet Nestle.  Nestle can be shy of strangers, so I was surprised when she went right up to Glory.

Our visit was much too short and all too soon Glory and JoAnn headed home.

Thunder misses Glory already.  😉

I also want to thank JoAnn for the great basket of goodies she brought us.

JoAnn decorated the jar of treats and the wine glasses herself.  It is hard to see in the pictures, but there is a Thunder, Storm and Freighter wineglass along with paw print decorations on each and it says “WOOF” around the base of the stem.  The jar is similarly decorated with paw prints and it says “WOOF TREATS”.  Of course JoAnn included a leash and a new lanyard for hubby and I got a nice new leash too.  🙂  But that is not all, there were Norman Kisses chapsticks and hand cream all made by JoAnn.  She is so talented!  JoAnn also included more treats and a toy for the dogs; treats for Nestle; and some yummy Lindt chocolates.  (We have been waiting for it to stop raining so the dogs can get out and play with their new blaze orange duck!)

Again thank you JoAnn!

I also wanted to give a shout out of congrats to Glory’s bro Gambler who passed his first Master Hunter test last weekend.  We knew you could do it!

  1. That was a great idea that Glory and JoAnn came over for a visit. I hope Thunder is not sad, that Glory went home… maybe this tasty treats are a good balm for a loving heart?

  2. What fun! We have a mall like that here too, and I sometimes see dogs walking around there. I am not sure how pet-friendly all the shops are because I’ve never actually seen a dog inside of any of the stores before.

  3. Aww Thunder… That outdoor mall looks like an awesome place to visit!! 😛 Wish we have something like that here that is dog-friendly. 😀 What a great visit 🙂

  4. I cannot wait for the news to see if the breeding worked! I would LOVE to see some Glorious Thunder puppies. I just know they would be gorgeous. What a lovely gift JoAnn gave you…I love her Norman Kisses lip balm. Happy Thursday!

  5. Sounds like a great visit! Barley loves visiting shops where they hand out biscuits, too. Sometimes she’s way more into shopping than I am 🙂

  6. So happy that everyone had a wonderful time! Those were great “dog-friendly” things to do for sure. Now, paws crossed for puppies!

  7. Poor Thunder…he looks so sad that his girl went home. Glad things were successful – at least the first leg, let’s hope for pups and lots of ’em.

  8. I wish we had a Three Dog Bakery location near us! We’ve ordered from them many times before.

  9. That’s so PAWSOME! I love meeting dogs and bloggers in the fur! And PUPPIES!!!! Can’t wait to see THOSE photos!

  10. What a fun visit! That mall looks great, and what nice gifts JoAnn brought (she IS talented). Now we all wait for the good news. 🙂

  11. Sounds like such a great visit. Really nice to see online pals meeting up in person so successfully and even a doggy romance. Kilo has been flirting with a few girl pugs on his new FB page- he is better online than live with other dogs. The gifts look lovely and we can’t wait to hear about the puppies. 12. I’m glad you had such a great visit. I was wondering how it would all go with an extra dog in the house. Was it difficult keeping the dogs separated and did Freighter show any interest?

  13. Just wondering…did Glory show some cravings for those baked goods? Maybe a super early sign? Wink, wink…

  14. Hi Y’all!

Don’t know of anyplace like y’all have there. Even if I did, from here on out 90 plus heat is the norm, anything less the exception. The Humans have had a terribly busy week and I’m afraid my Human Mama was threatening to kill me early this morning.

Thunder, it seems unfair your lover left you already.

    Y’all come on by,
    Hawk aka BrownDog

P.S. I’ll have to catch up later ’cause my Humans just got home after a 700 plus mile drive (round trip) and need the ‘puter for work tonight before we can all go to bed. First, I get dinner! NOW!

  15. I’m shocked that I’ve never been to that mall; actually I’d never heard of it. It’s not too far away from us I think I’ll check it out one of these days. And there aren’t enough “awwwws” in the world for Thunder’s face missing Glory.

  16. JoAnn is such a wonderful person! I am keeping all of my fingers crossed that y’all will have gorgeous puppies.
