We had beautiful Spring weather this weekend (finally!).  We went to see the trainer we have been working with to seek his guidance on how to move ahead with Thunder’s water blinds.  (Remember I commented last post that they were not moving ahead as we would like?) Turns out we had to go way back in order to move ahead.  Basically the trainer repeated some of the training techniques we used when starting blinds on land.  Thunder’s land blinds have progressed nicely, but it hasn’t translated over to water for him.  We will use the techniques the trainer showed us, and hope for progress.  Thunder will fetch water marks all day, but handling on water turns out to be a whole other story.

When training, it is not uncommon to have to go back and repeat some training.  Recently we followed Hawk, (a fellow CBR), as he relearned some of his training.  You can visit Hawk and here and read about his training review Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 and Part 4.

Thunder had to go back to First Reader

But before we worked with Thunder, Jim took Storm out and ran her on some water blinds.  Two were visible piles, but the third was a long swim and was not visible.  The trainer has done a great job with Storm.  Her work was very nice.  She has matured so much while she has been gone.  This has been a wonderful experience for her.

I snapped some pictures…

Lining up
Sent to the pile of bumpers
Swimming over
Far edge of the pond
Almost there
On her way back
Back in the Water
Back on Land
Good girl!

Tomorrow I will post some pictures of Storm doing the long water blind…
